Coghlan can play 1b, 2b,3b, LF,CF,RF..... with LaStella out he is also the back utility inf behind Baez.He is 31 and they know him from 2015.

Crawford throws left and has only limited time in CF and has never played RF in his 15 MLB seasons. He is 34 and Maddon had him in TB , Theo had him in Bos.

Trust the process.....

I trust the process. I just don't think it's much of a stretch that Crawford is a better player today than Coghlan. Don't get me wrong, I hope Coghlan plays well while he's here and who knows, maybe the front office did check in with Maddon regarding Crawford and he said no thanks. Regardless, someone is out the door in few weeks anyway.

It better be Federowicz. Get the fuck outta here with this three catchers nonsense. Szczur deserves to be here.

Except for the last two years Coghlan has been.

Almora's ceiling is probably somebody like Garry Maddox, multiple Gold Gloves and a .700 OPS as a #8/#9 hitter. But if he can at least hit for average against lefties, he'll play in the big leagues for a decade as a #4 OF.

Multiple gold gloves eh? No, Cub fans don't inflate their players at all.

Actually, he's right. Almora is an exceptional defender. If Maddon is smart, he has Almora in CF, Fowler in LF and Heyward in RF and has the best outfield defense in Baseball.

reminds me a lot of Brian Anderson

Nice hit (2nd one in the game). I wanted to see Almora steal a base here, but the wild pitch already has him in scoring position. Now bunt him over!

Almora is ready NOW. If they play him every day in LF their defense in the outfield may be the best in Baseball and Almora is showing he can hit enough too.

Trade Schwarber, Soler, Hendricks, Russell and Eloy Jimenez for Kershaw and Seager.

I'm going to need Hector Santiago included as well before I even consider that offer.

And if at all possible, a picture of a Bobby Knight 8x10 autographed by Scioscia while dressed as Garth Brooks.

Regarding the dive...he turned a double into a double. No big deal. Youthful exuberance.

Almora is not likely to have as high an OBP as Fowler, so after he takes over CF there will be some people lamenting the fact that Fowler moved on (assuming he does). But he will play a better CF (maybe even win a gold glove) and hit for an average probably higher than Fowlers .250 in 2015.But with a much lower walk rate, his OBP will not be as high. But after a couple years I think Almora will have developed into the decidedly better player.

This is just stupid. Fowler is one of the best CF in the game.

Not defensively. He has had negative grades as a CF before this year. He made positive strides last year, but still wound up with a negative WAR for his defense. So far this year, he's been a bit better, but he's no gold glove candidate. One of the reasons he has not been more sought after, has been his defense. Almora on the other hand, is an exceptional defender. Takes better routes on balls, has better speed and a better arm. The only question Almora has had, was whether or not he would hit enough at the major league level.

Bump
