If there were 80' billboards put up overnite that read "DANGER- ALLIGATORS" there would still be someone in that water tomorrow. People are stupid. Especially Disney tourists.

If there were reports of guests feeding a twelve foot Python near a tree in one of the bungalows, would you say Disney has a responsibility to remove it or at least warn the public before it tries to take down a guest.

They may have a sign saying stay off grass, but I would read that assuming I would be attached by a snake.

Well the most important thing in this story, and all others like it, is to properly assess blame on the parents.

This is the thing that gets me. I have been to Disney numerous times. And every time there I felt that Disney was in total control of every part of their resort. I am honestly amazed that there was an area that gators could get to where people were located. I can easily see how a family (especially one not from Florida) would think that there was no risk of gators in that beach area.

I'm stunned there isn't a team whose sole job is to look for and catch gators on the Disney properties.

Are you sure there isn't?

There's not a Disney team looking to get the Gators all day. Because CNN interviewed a guy who said he was concerned about a couple of gators he saw near the resort. Said one charged his kid. The manager girl laughed him off and said they're just the resorts "Pets" and they won't hurt people. Guy claimed she was annoyed that he even complained about it.

Handsome kid. Photos always make you feel worse about these things. I really feel bad for the father. Your job is to protect your family and knowing you failed will probably haunt you for the rest of your life.

Yeah. I feel horrible for this Dad.

Just think the last memory of his child is the kid probably screaming in sheer terror and pain for his dad to help him. No amount of money would be able to fix my head after that.

First Darkside angered Doug by ripping on a Corgan solo, now you post this. I guess the band isn't getting back together!

I mean as a whole Disney tourists are morons. There are 'good ones' like Doug and I.

It really is amazing though in that setting-- the happiest place on earth-- how rude people are and how they suddenly forget simple things like how to walk in a straight line, or how to tell time as they show up late to dinner reservations or try to use an expired Fastpass.

Also, just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't. You don't get a get out of jail free card the first time you're negligent.

I understand legally that Disney will pay, though they will surely just settle out of court. I just have a hard time getting mad at Disney for not having an extra warning sign for something that has literally never happened.

You can get sued for someone slipping on ice in your yard. Should I get some signs saying "CAUTION: ICE IS SLIPPERY"?

We're going to need a lot of signs in Florida.

Think of the boost to the local economy, with all of the sign shops getting tons of work.

When people hear "man made lake",nobody is thinking alligator infested. How would a tourist know about the passages leading into a natural waterway?

They should have had signs warning of alligator pure and simple.

That is a man made lake, but about 500 yards west there is a pretty good size natural lake called "Bay Lake" that is connected to the manmade one. Boat rentals & and fishing excursions are offered on Bay Lake. Parasailing and water skiing used to be, I don't know if they still are.

they will likely build seawalls and remove all direct access to the water, remove the beaches and sand, etc...
