ok having read those (surprisingly short) threads i can see that biggie was on the warpath and had 4 people singled out for execution...

still tho my ? of "what happened?" still stands cuz those threads were like walking in the middle of that scene from half-baked where dude is like "FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU YOU'RE COOL FUCK YOU I'M OUT!!!!!" and sure you're laughing but you're still like "dude what the fuck?" until you find out that he just quit his job right there on the spot so that's why he went off like that and it's like OHHHHHH ok i gotcha.

One time I asked what some thread was about and it was pruned like within three hours for no reason? I was just browsing the Members section sorting by Other and found some strange folks in there.... guess we shouldn't go venturing in there!

shit when i entered quote/reply mode i misread that as "nas had an explosion" and i was about to make a joke about his mookie betts dropping 5HR in 2 games on me on the mon/tues of our weekly matchup...

...but then again this is why i'm no longer qualified to really delve into board meta-drama and carry on with, say, >10% of my posts being of a TLDR/personal-blog variety; i'm just a fucking benchwarmer (as opposed to "loser" cuz i'm really not even technically in the game at all) who would do best to continue trying really hard to post like everyone else does (re: syntax/style) and remember that [TOPICS] are way more interesting than [YOU] --- that's what a nice lil siesta from the board teaches you via 20/20 hindsight.

THAT SAID: i'm pretty sure i caught my ban for "taking shots at [bigfan]" (plus i assume the whole "being me" thing tbh) and i swear to god i never ever meant to take a shot at the guy** cuz i always thought he was good to me and what little i knew of/about him wasn't anything that i had a strong opinion about in any regards, so welp, that's why i gotta make sure in the future i steer clear of the meta stuff and put in actual effort to post like a normal pantsless cretin. that's right i'm dropping the e-word nowadays so beware!

** = btw the one thing about apartment squatting and lane tech honeys was technically a shot at IMU that meant to "have biggie's back" whilst rubbing IMU's face in a prolly-pretty-legit shot he took @ bigfan weeks prior. when i was given my golden opportunity to reflect on the consequences of that, i stopped and thought about it and it was like "man, why am i bothering to take shots in the first place? if i didnt attempt to take a shot at IMU i might not have gotten shitcanned, so hey live and let foe!" (the foe list is criminally underused IMO)

THE PRECEDING POST WAS WRITTEN IN A REALM DEVOID OF IRONY

Idk, I can't find Nas' quote, but it explained most of the behind the scenes shenanigans. When the board transferred over there was like 12 hours of missing posts.

It didn't make it over to the new board, and on the old board he overwrote his scathing screed to simply indicate the new board's url.

I have a number of the wacky threads saved for posterity's sake, but I'm not just going to willy-nilly post it here unless it has his blessing to do so ... or if he pisses me off enough to do it ... both things I believe are exceedingly unlikely to occur.

The short version is a case of seller's remorse combined with poor foresight made a given person look beyond foolish and they were lampooned robustly, and rightly, as a result.

It is hoped by MANY that said person comes to terms with the situation and returns. Time will tell.

Ok Sini, here it is... I didn't find it on my own. It was a blessing from the Gods so to speak...

This is Nas' quote:
I want to make it clear that I am speaking for myself. These are not the thoughts of the Three Wisemen.

Like MANY, I really enjoy this website. I've been posting here for nearly 12 years and this community has become an important part of my life. The diversity of the community and the diversity of opinion is what I enjoy the most. This place can be equally informative and entertaining and it can also drive you crazy. I haven't always agreed with BF, but I have always appreciated what he has done over the past 12+ years with this site. I've made a few donations over the years to show my appreciation and I've personally let him know how I felt about this place.

In November BF reached out to dozen or so of us. He wanted all of us to get together so he can share with us some important news about this site. When we got together in early December, he let us know that he was moving and starting a new venture and would be selling this board as well as another website. He said he had some interest from some outside parties, but he preferred to keep it "in the family". Everyone there had some level of interest in acquiring it, but all of us wanted to keep it in the community. I and MANY people there really appreciated that he brought all of us together to let us know what was going on and give us the option of taking it off his hands.

Right before Christmas I met JORR and Seacrest for drinks at Miller's Pub. This wasn't really anything new because we meet somewhat frequently for lunch. While having 1 or 30 drinks we discussed taking BF up on his offer and acquiring this board as well as Redacted. In the end, we all agreed to be partners. The following day we let BF know and in a few days he agreed to sell it to us.

Before an agreement was put in writing, BF decided that he wanted to retain Redacted. He adjusted the price accordingly and we all agreed on a number and the terms of a sale. We were supposed to finalize the deal in early February, but there were some delays with some things BF was involved in and the date kept getting pushed back. We all know how much BF loves this site so I thought he was having cold feet. During this time we exchanged dozens of emails, met in person with BF again and there were a few text messages mixed in. Finally, in April we got a somewhat concrete date. At that point, BF gave us Admin power.

What I appreciated a lot during the entire process was BF letting us know that he wanted us to look good when we took over the board. He banned a few people and said, "You guys can reinstate them all when you take over (except KeepingScore) so you can look like the heroes." I thought that was really kind of him.

As we all know the change of ownership wasn't smooth. There were several hiccups and in the end nearly a week of posts were lost. What you all don't know is that while the Three Wisemen have control over the board (at this time), we don't own the domain name. In fact, the transaction has never been completed. There have been virtually daily requests for BigFan to send us an invoice so we can finalize the transaction, but he never got around to doing that or transferring the domain name either.

We understood that BF was busy and that the money probably didn't mean anything to him. We believed that he would get around to doing it once he had a chance. Because we appreciated what he had given all of us over the years, we volunteered to create a section in his honor that he could promote his websites and even moderate. I was putting the finishing touches on it and had planned for it to go live today.

Unfortunately, over the past week I started to suspect that BF wasn't going to send over an invoice UNLESS we banned posters or ran the board in a way he liked. I was against this (I'll let JORR and Seacrest speak for themselves). Over the past 24 hours, BF sent an email saying that we need to renegotiate the terms or he had no issue with virtually killing the site by moving the domain name (that he still owns). As we can see by his series of posts, he's probably serious about doing it. It's unfortunate, but that's where things stand right now. Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this issue and finalize the terms that we all agreed to. If not, we may see the death of CSFMB as we know it.

ok, so bigger picture here from what i can gather it seems like there was a formal transfer of board ownership from bigfan to [whoever] and when that happened some people decided that it was open season on bigfan (since he no longer formally or informally held any sort of "power" or "domain" over them anymore, despite seemingly retaining moderator/admin status. ppl decided it was time to unleash the hounds on him since his word was no longer the 100.0% absolute END OF LINE type be-all/end-all cuz any of his moderation could (theoretically?) be overruled by the new owner/s...)

and then on the other side i'd guess that since bigfan no longer had to deal with any community-leader(some would say dictator) politics anymore he seemed more than game to return fire at the no-longer-just-passive/aggro-shots-at-him and uhhh the result = what i'm seeing in those first 3 threads you linked me to?

so yeah basically since bigfan stopped being the de-facto god of the CSFMB (and i don't say that in any sort of passive/aggro way, i mean that it was 100.0% his website and in the end whatever he wanted/decided was going to happen because it was his WEBSITE no matter how many people would try and claim that despite this it's OUR community and not HIS community, even if said community technically uses HIS website and etc (and thus was the age-old animus between biggie and his longtime detractors, so now that he's a bit more external from the center of the CSFMB universe it seemed like a bit of that quitting scene from half-baked on both sides of the schism, eh?) AHEM. yeah basically since bigfan stopped being 100.0%-all-powerful people basically started taking some pretty serious shots at him that they prolly wanted to take for a long time, eh?

goddamn this is why imma retire from this shit..... BUT FIRST (speaking of a realm devoid of irony...) i got one more of these in my system for the rest of my life >>

pittmike wrote:

hey alky, you know my traditional gut reaction to reading your post here would be to dive into a whole big multi-paragraph thing where i go out of my way to tell you to fuck off. but you know what i actually wanted to do when i first saw your post? i wanted to go back and delete my unnecessary blathering about myself because i realized you were right (hence the whole THIS POST WAS MADE IN A REALM DEVOID OF IRONY part) and i wanted to try and do better by you and etc...

HOWEVER

for the life of me i'll never understand why ppl ostensibly hate a big long dumb post by me so much that they gotta drop what they're doing to not just make a post that ONLY says "holy shit guys sini sucks, amirite?" --- but then they also quote the whole goddamn thing that they hate so much just so now 2/3 or 2/4 consecutive messages are my big ol dumbass post. seriously you know, if i wanted to tell you that i hate fucking sheep i'm not going to come over to your house and barge in with a sheep and start fucking the sheep right there in the middle of your living room and mid-coitus yell out "HEY YOU KNOW WHAT? I REALLY HATE *POINTS DOWN AT THE SQUEALING SHEEP * THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE!!! IT CHAFES MY DICK LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER CUZ THEY WONT JUST ACCEPT THEIR FATE YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING?!?!" --- no dude i'm just gonna tell you that i hate fucking sheep and leave it at that.

TLDR = hey mike, in the future if you gotta point out how much i suck can you plz just do it without quoting the big dumb post i just made? especially if it's literally 1-2 posts b4 your (much-needed) post? trust me: everyone will know exactly what you mean cuz me and my ubiquitous sucktitude isn't exactly the secret of NIMH around these parts, you know? =D

inb4 pittmike quotes this whole post to leave a one-liner about how much i suck because he's a witty guy like that =D

Sini, I love you, but this reads like a sentence fragment... what is the rest of the thought after "so yeah basically since bigfan stopped being the de-facto god of the CSFMB"?

yeah it WAS a sentence fragment. i realized that back and went and fleshed it out via an edit.... but basically what happens is that sometimes in my quest to say THE PERFECT THING and cover 100.0% of the details i tangent out into (stuff) and then i ride out that tangent so long that i forget the original thing i was trying to say.

would you believe that "they" wanted to pump me full of ritalin as a kid? mommy told me i was smart enough to "get away with it" =D

Sini, Biggie was taking shots at MANY posters. Some of it you could understand, but he seemed to become more unhinged without the ban button. He even posted a link to your msg board venture to try and drag you. His true colors came through at the end.

A-HA! yeah ok now everything makes total sense to me now.

i'm guessing that since the board is still here that this has been worked out?

I was against this (I'll let JORR and Seacrest speak for themselves). Over the past 24 hours, BF sent an email saying that we need to renegotiate the terms or he had no issue with virtually killing the site by moving the domain name (that he still owns). As we can see by his series of posts, he's probably serious about doing it. It's unfortunate, but that's where things stand right now. Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this issue and finalize the terms that we all agreed to. If not, we may see the death of CSFMB as we know it.

A-HA! yeah ok now everything makes total sense to me now.

i'm guessing that since the board is still here that this has been worked out?

Apparently, this board was in part created with Brick's assistance, or something like that. Only the 3 mods know exactly how it was handled, but yeah the board survived. It seems better than it has been in a while, and just about every poster from the other board has made it over here. That's about all I know.

Sini, [Biggie] posted a link to your msg board venture to try and drag you.

what? what message board venture do i have? there used to be a sinicalypse.com + message board from apx mid-2008 to mid-2009, but other than that i don't have a msgboard venture.

and yeah btw i could guess that he was a bit more !!! cuz formally he told me that i was banned for "taking shots at him" and outside of that one time i tried to rub IMU's face in a shot HE took at bigfan (where i honest to god thought bigfan would e-highfive me for sticking up for him like that) i instead got banned and he told me that he was willing to put up with [my bullshit] but when i started taking shot*s* at him that was enough.... and seriously man, i honest to god don't ever remember taking a single "shot" at the guy cuz i've never had anything against him. i met him once and bought the guy a couple'a jacks and diet cokes and he seemed like a solid dude.... the only thing i remember about meeting him was "wow, he's LITERALLY a BIG FAN" cuz the dude was taller/bigger than my 6'4/250+ *ding* self. that's it.

you figure of ALL people on the board who you could ban and have them ask why and just go "dude, you're you. duh" --- IT'S ME!!! i mean seriously unless he was trying to cover up for the whole "me being me" thing where he thought i might go off and kill myself if i got "rejected" from the CSFMB or something then whatever..... but srsly it's genuinely WTF to hear that you're being shitcanned for something you didn't do when it's like "....you're seriously telling me it's not for all the stuff i DID do?"

alas, i will be left to forever wonder what that one (job/work?) "opportunity [he] might have for [me] in the future" was, eh? yeah way beneath the surface there was always some weird little vibe with him where every now and then he'd vaguely mention maybe having [something] for me to do [for him] in the future, but i never found out what it was. ah well. best laid plans, eh?

i got banned for shots i didn't take, i got "dragged" for a message board venture i didn't make.... if i don't end up being the subject of a country song pretty soon i'm probably going to be arrested for my part in the JFK assassination, eh?

actually i can't joke about that since there was that one time somebody told the internet that i was the guy who killed 5 people @ NIU (via my myspace page at least)

one of these days i need to make a t-shirt that says "i'm not a psycho; i just talk too much on the internet"

Yeah, I liked passive aggressively posting gifs in response to his grammar-less posts, but I never truly had any outside the board interaction with him (I've actually never interacted with any board members in real life). He seemed slightly uneducated, but was a successful slum lord.

The guy obviously liked to have power over us. I was here posting while at work when he lost it that Friday night. Any shred of respect I had for the guy evaporated in the span of a few minutes.

He really did reference you when he was talking about posters leaving to start their own board. It was strange. The man had insecurity issues, and was so overly sensitive about the least bit of traffic being taken from csfmb.

i actually don't exist IRL-- i use a hologram form over here but mainly i'm just a sentient/ish CPU process that idles over @ my sandlot team page so i can just stare at it for ~18-21hrs/day while thinking "...damn i'm good"

you know, like i reckon you do in my league nowadays! (my league's standings = 1. CHUS 105pts <<25-30+ POINT GAP>> 2-12. RIFF-RAFF/PEASANTS/ME/ANYONE-BUT-RAGONE) ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOPHISH!

btw for the record i still haven't gone back to #hardball since i nicked hatchetman's avatar. i've been ingratiating myself to #reddit-baseball, where i've already gotten a tongue lashing for even HYPOTHETICALLY referring to jessica mendoza as a "token woman in the booth" (i was told that even if i say that in jest people might pick it up and start using it for-real..... reddit amirite?)

ok... phew. for a second i was a little !!? that maybe he started trying to google search my name and find me on other msgboards and start posting my BS here like "DO YOU GUYS REALLY MISS THIS?!" but in terms of starting another msgboard to compete with this one? wow.... idk where to begin with that sort of thing. i don't really have a power/domain thing with me where i want to run various social/media avenues; i'm good with just the end-user experience (ask chus and/or juiced about how much fun running a little fantasy baseball league can be, i had a disgruntled midtable guy go and try to pull off a mutiny against me via a 100% str8up phantom menace style "vote of no confidence" because i teased consequences for his blackmailing/threatening me into immediately vetoing/changing a trade involving players he wanted on both sides of the deal =)

still tho it's kinda sad that things ended up the way they did. in the end i'd guess that bigfan maybe ran this site in the hopes of possibly becoming somebody on the periphery of the chicago sports/media scene and maybe (just maybe, as this is 100% speculation on my part) he had a dream where running a tight ship over here ends up getting him on the radar of guys like mitch or some of the local franchises/networks/etc and eventually he might be formally hired to run some sort of "official" messageboards/social-media-portals for the score or ESPN1000 or something. i mean hey there's gotta be a reason he grabbed score670.com other than hopefully making a few bucks via cybersquatting, right?

but hey in the end pretty much everyone @ the score knows he's "that messageboard guy" from what he did here, so hopefully he got what he wanted from this site and obviously i wish him well in his future endeavors!

I think you're onto something there with the Biggie observation. I remember once sending him a PM stating there was legit blogging talent on the board, and why not try to monetize it by using those of us who have a writing strength corresponding with a particular sport. Ya' know. Let's all make a few bucks here. I received no response... Then come to find out Biggie had started a blog at some point, and it was just horrible. No editor, and zero interesting content. The guy was in this for himself. Plain and simple. You're right, he wanted to rub elbows with people at the Score. Maybe he blames us posters for the way most of us regard the on air "talent" at the score for not allowing him to further this endeavor.

I should have known BF was a baby back bitch when he couldn't let go of his anger for Laurence Holmes not shaking his hand at some event.
