Piling on, no. But they're just as culpable as the Cincinnati zoo parents.

These parents didn't do anything that thousands of other people didn't do. Wading is not swimming. You cannot put up a beach and expect families and little kids not to walk along it. I have no idea what the Cincinnati parents did or didn't do but I know my kids have gotten away a time or 2. It happens real quick especially at zoos.

RR doing work here. As far as a case it really doesn't matter. If it can simple it down some a lawsuit will get paid. I am sure most of you have had a friend or an experience about your own suburban pool. Put a 10 foot fence around it, have disclaimers and all the signs you want. Some pool jumper drowns or worse a guest and your insurance company is paying out. Disney and alligators are just a bigger scenario.

I missed this gem. Yes, childless men are the exact demographic that Disney has been trying to get!! Fuck the kids, let get more guys down here to golf and drink at Epcot.

I love ya' Mike, but that's not true. Good insurance companies don't just settle "because."

Maybe but my point is putting up a sign doesn't mean anything as far as shielding yourself from liability.

Agreed. That's what I've been saying the whole thread. I guess maybe the arguments are being twisted between legal liability and just what people think is "right."

if you build a sandy beach that runs up to and into the water on a lagoon with a known alligator population, you have a responsibility to inform people that the alligators exist and that there is danger that if you step a foot in that water you could be confronted by an alligator. "No Swimming" is not a sufficient warning to the actual risks on a man-made beach at a popular family resort. the Cincinnati zoo situation was different in that there were multiple barriers that the child had to cross and could only have crossed due to parent negligence. the Disney resort not only did not have any warning or barriers protecting unsuspecting people from a known danger, they INVITED people to the waters edge and beyond by building a fucking sandy BEACH leading into the water on the resort property.

There's no 'maybe' about it ... and yes, it does have a mitigating effect, albeit perhaps a small one.

Here "because" = stopping the bleeding from a public relations disaster.

And for the record, I could have seen this or worse happening to one of my sons when they were younger. Like Spaulding said, blink and sometimes your kids are gone. Doesn't make anyone a bad parent, sometimes it's just that an unfortunate moment took place involving your kid. But to a certain extent, it's always a strict liability matter involving your kids. Sprite infused computers, borrowed bats/windows broken, or God forbid, worse.
