This is a real shame. He left his car in neutral, walked to his mailbox in front of his house .
Car backed up and pinned him between the car and mailbox. He was great in the new Star Trek movies.

RIP

For the record I don't have a problem with the joke. I just wanted to post that pic of Del Griffith.

Also, for the record, this board needs more Del Griffith.

It probably matters if he was pinched up against the brick in the chest or down in the lower pelvis ... he's "lucky" (such as it is) if it was the chest (punctured lung and/or heart, maybe a few minutes tops), otherwise he could've been there for quite some time (hour-plus) I suspect ... more than enough time to realize, rationalize, and rue his circumstance, perhaps quite thoroughly at that.

Yuck.

Why would you have your car in neutral in that situation to begin with?

http://gizmodo.com/anton-yelchin-death-jeep-cherokees-were-recalled-for-c-1782255236

According to Fiat Crysler Automotive, the issue stems to from the design of the electronic shifter. When the driver shifts the vehicle into park, the only indication to the driver is a light on the console: “unless due care is taken, drivers may draw erroneous conclusions about the status of their vehicles.”

According to a representative from FCA, drivers of affected vehicles were notified and issued directions to properly operate the shifter. The company could not speak about this specific accident, nor whether Yelchin’s vehicle was one of the ones affected by the recall.
