Waiting for the time when I can finally say
That this has all been wonderful, but now I'm on my way

There were like a dozen of us that met him in late November, early December at a place called Old Crow I think. It is near Kinzie and LaSalle. He said he was "getting out of the message board business." He bought a company in AZ and was going to move there. He said he didn't want the site and what went on here to affect his new business interests. Told us all to think about it. We had a few drinks and hung out a while longer. He said he had another site, the one he launched today, that he was divesting himself of as well. I spoke with him directly after he did his pitch. I asked what he wanted for the two sites. he gave me a figure and I said,"Done." He wanted more than one person to be involved and i told him I had two others that i was sure I could get to go in with me.

That is how the story of the last six months began. I'm wouldn't be surprised if others here had a similar conversation.

But a few points that bear repeating:

He was getting out of the message board business.

He was selling two sites.

Speaking for myself, I don't want anyone here to walk away hating him. I think Speeps put it best. Hate brings suffering. I sent him a text today wishing him good luck. I meant it. I don't consider what he is doing to be competition to us.

I believe that I'm the only one who both openly and regularly posted at both boards from day one unto even now. So, my 'role' is the type you were looking for, and the listing of the 'roll' is therefore now complete.

I'm thrilled the board is under not just different, but apparently far more solid, management, and I say that even though I believe I only have an inarguably positive 'relationship', such as it is, with just Nas ... I think JORR and I do okay more or less (whether he agrees I cannot say) ... I only recently took Seacrest off ignore (despite what he thinks) given the circumstances, and maybe that will be fine in time too. Still, I think things are better off with three fairly well-reasoned goofs than just one Eeyore-like one who fell waaaaay too in love with the 'his board, his rules' shit that far too many dopes posted far too often as though it were something enlightening.

I don't think you could pay me to want to post on Scot's new board ... however, were I to do so it's nobody's friggin' business whatsoever, full stop.

I'll repeat now what I've said all along ... I think people need to keep their eyes on their own paper, so to speak, and not worry about who's posting where on the fucking internet. Even in jest I find the idea of 'grown-assed men' discussing the topic to be nauseating.

The 2016 seemingly most popular threads consist of a cheating behind the scenes score guy, a waste of too much space twitter obsessed update girl, and now the former overload of our beloved message board. It's really all akin to watching a car wreck- you feel guilty doing it but curiosity forces you to stare.

When I was on there today...I was talking to Nas as I was helping with the logo. I noticed the two board installs (I was originally editing the wrong one and figuring out why the eff it wasn't working was annoying)....but I also noticed some of the customizations on the phpBB were done awkwardly...like hardcoding the header logo and hosting it outside of the phpBB install...

If there were three or four installs at one time...my god.

I don't want to mischaracterize anything. We never had any specific discussions about him not duplicating the message board the minute he sold it to us. It really wasn't necessary. First of all, if he wanted to run a message board, he had one. He didn't need to do what he did. And I don't think his objective was to hornswoggle us out of a few shekels and then go back to running his board. This is about ego and hurt feelings. It was understood that he didn't want to run the board anymore for certain reasons. The intention was that we would cross-promote the respective sites. The way he described it I envisioned his new site as sort of a Chicago sports hub for all the Chicagoans that are now living in Arizona. He had some live sports show/podcast he was working on out there.
