All pitchers have form cycles. I think it's funny that people actually thought he was just going to go out and throw a no-hitter every game.

It's done. Fucking OVER. Here we are needing our so called "ace" to get us a win to avoid a sweep against our rivals and completely erase any final chance they had to get back in this division and he wets the bed.

America was right the entire time. He has completely lost it. Can't command the fastball, his curveball sucks, no one bites on his slider anymore and he doesn't trust his changeup. He's a mediocre pitcher now. Every start is such an agonizing grind just to get through 5 innings in less than 100 pitches.

Mother fucker, this sucks.

I FEEL YA PAIN HOMEY. seriously, i know lots of (VERY STUPID) people try to make some claim for clayton kershaw being "the best pitcher in baseball", like that perennial PLAYOFF CHOKER has ever reached the heights that only jake arrieta and/or bob gibson can tell you about..... but seriously man just look at the #s. the stat's don't lie. and NO not those stats with IP/ERA/WHIP/K/BB/K-BB/etc... i'm talking about the kind of stats that my guy JORR can get behind: duh, #WINNING! </sheen>

the cubs won what, 24 str8 games started by arrieta? his loss in the last week or 2 was his first loss since lincoln freed the slaves?

Steve from the 'Hurst wrote:
WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

but yeah the cubs were literally unfuckwithable when arrieta started games, and his historic 2nd half went and TOOK that cy young from kershaw and his *wanking motion* 300K. pfft. how many wild card / game163's has kershaw won? last thing i remember about postseason kershaw was a whole lotta cardinals scoring even easier than prom night. so what that arrieta had an off-day today... isn't he allowed some? anyone remember kershaw's 1.2IP 6H 7ER 3BB 3K @ARI in may 2014? anyone see his 5 run inning at home against miami this year? yeah your lil kershaw can get hit too.... but still when it comes down to WINNING, aka THE ONLY STAT THAT MATTERS, and especially if it's WINNING IN OCTOBER then jake arrieta is the best damn pitcher in baseball, and anyone who thinks otherwise = hit me up via PM cuz i've been unable to find any decent wickeysticks/sherm/PCP for awhile now =/

TLDR = hey hockey ghey, enough with this faux-sarcasm thing.... jake arrieta is the best pitcher in baseball since bob gibson and anyone who disagrees = someone you shouldn't be associating with anyways because they're either mentally retarded and/or on hard drugs, and most likely some kind of "corky thatcher hittin the pipe" and plz notice that's not A pipe but THE pipe cuz seriously there's a reason why THE pipe is THE pipe and not just A pipe; ask around!

What the fuck does that have to do with anything?

Sorry leash, but you're out.

I now want the Gay-Pasta fan broadcast of all future Cub games.

I could play the role of Harry Teinowitz.

How many Suburban Mayors do you know personally?

Why did they "need" to win that game? They are 9 1/2 game up after today's game.

This team is going to go through losing streaks. And that includes Arrieta.

He needs to rest...The Cubs going to a 6 man rotation will help that whole staff. Something I suggested on here about 3 weeks ago.

I never thought he needed to do that because I, and every Cub fan I've ever known, knew that Rizzo and Bryant were going to go 5-for-4 every game with 6HRs.

Because I wanted them to bury the Cards and Pirates in back to back series in late June.

I'm getting greedy.

Whoa, they aren't exactly Williams and Hickman circa 1970. Or even Aram & Lee!

The Kapman and friends actually discussed whether he would throw another no-hitter the next game. Arrieta wasn't even bad today. He just wasn't great.

I haven't looked but I am going to guess they are no longer averaging 6 plus runs per game?

didn't the 2006 white sox technically have a better record and/or run-differential than the 2005 white sox?

i distinctly seem to remember the 2006 team being categorically superior to 2005, however 2005 worked out that it was an easier road to the playoffs (i.e. the near-chokejob / comeback by cleveland) and then legit BASEBALL MAGIC(TM) when they got in, however at least on paper and over the 162 regular season games the 2006 white sox technically improved on 2005.... only to come up short cuz "hey that's baseball for you!"

yeah i always figured that kap wouldn't make it a point to slag off "undesirables" or "lesser people", he'd just go out of his way to give props to "the good guys" aka "quality people." you know, people who more than likely look just like him (all the way down to the shaved head that's able to display a nice symbolic reflection of his "FATHER OF THE YEAR" trophy!)

"The Father of the Year is an award that's given--not necessarily given each year... Given only when there's a worthy, somebody especially... [of the caliber of david kaplan]" - brandt from the big lebowski

I put the 'fun' back in funeral ... and saying something like that would be the least of the grievances levied against me, I'm sure.

Can't imagine he's happy about going to a 6-man rotation. While no one should feel sorry for someone making $10m a year, it's got to kill him that other pitchers are getting $25 mil x 6 years while he's under pressure to maintain his otherworldly performance for the next year and a half. Again, it's a first class problem, but he's human.

No, they won 99 games in 2005. I would say the 2006 team was the best of my life on paper and they played that way for half a season, but the pitching was just too worn down from going so long the previous season.
