IIRC, isn't it not as much "belgium" or any other individual EU member as much as it is a veritable "unelected senate" who has way more actual legislative power over the veritable "house of representatives" that people can actually elect?

i'm pretty sure i read that there's 2 tiers of people in the EU, and the one that people actually elect is akin to our house of representatives, and then the other one that people DON'T elect is akin to the senate (and ofc it has much more actual legislative power/s than the ppl who are actually elected) --- then again maybe i'm just a victim of going with a summary written by a pro-brexit mark.

"Belgium" as synecdoche for the weird pseudo-elected EU bureaucracy.

There's a European Parliament that no one bothers to vote for, which is how Nigel Farage got in. The European Council is everyone's heads of government, I believe.

This is true.

This is also true.

We will see if Trump truly wants to be POTUS. I've said all along, he is the one person that could take down Hillary, but he is like the GOP in that he can't stay focused on what is important.

Trade is the one platform Trump makes sense. He'll implode all by himself.

Trump's campaign reminds me of the end of The Hunt For Red October in a way...

"Torpedo! Dead ahead!"
"You arrogant ass, you killed us!"

Interesting.
http://www.npr.org/2016/06/28/483883321 ... -annotated

The one point annotated by NPR that is correct is that Hillary has company in the trade deals...the Republicans have been with them.

What also gets left out is the service and technical jobs that have been shipped overseas. Another bi-partisan blow to American jobs.

This doesn't mean I like Trump as POTUS, but I do agree with him on Trade and I do agree with him that Hillary will continue to put gas on that fire. Problem is...the others in his party also want to continue to put gas on that fire.

Still is telling that no matter how many people you talk to or discuss with here that think Trump is crazy, racist, unelectable or simply a boob HRC just cannot seem to pull away.

Those national polls are pointless to me. The split where a state is up for grabs is what I'd be most interested in.

Also I wonder if motivation will impact turnout in November.

I believe segment where they hate both candidates but the "I have to vote against Trump" segment is stronger than "I have to vote against Clinton"

According to everything I've heard, the swing states are toss-ups at this point. That was from Maher on Friday... haven't heard since and frankly don't care because they will go back and forth up until the election unless Trump murders someone or something... and even then, not sure it wouldn't give him a bump.

The Bernie Sanders voters still have no reason to jump on the Hillary train until Bernie gets to make his grand speech at the convention. That is why it seems close.

Exactly. No point in even counting Illinois vote totals, as Hillary is a lock to win the state.

Plus, obviously there's still a lot of things yet to occur (convention, naming of VPs, debates, etc.).

it feels like trump peaked.... it was pretty easy to convince your white base to vote for you during rep. primaries if only because every other rep. candidate was a retard/unelectable... but now he has to win key swing states against a political machine.

This is all so silly. Why are we still discussing this? Trump may not even get out of the convention. He can't win a general election.

I did find it funny that ABC decides to have on Nate Silver. You see, NOW he's sure of his data. But he was SURE before too.

Hillary's problem will be getting the voters Obama brought to the polling booths on election day to make the same effort for her.

It does seem like the whole buyer beware thing, in terms of the voters started the second that he clinched the nomination. Republican leaders to their credit, foresaw what is now being played out. They tried to thwart him but the voters spoke and now it appears that they are about to lose. The question now becomes just how much damage will be done at the lower levels.

Not making any hidden comments or predictions here but she is pretty old. Some say health not excellent. Does she make 8 if given the chance?

What does that have to do with my post? I am not voting for Trump or advocating for his health exam over Clinton's. :) :)

You said she was old. You also are a big Reagan fan, who was the oldest sitting president. It seems like an odd time to play the age card.
