It's amazing.

Dunn

LaRoach

Frazier

I'll bet no team in the history of MLB has had this run of bad white acquisitions. 3 in a row. You would think just by luck we'd hit on a good white. Nope.

This ain't shit.

Beardown, you want a real project that involves race relations? Do a report on the type of position players that Kenny Williams has wasted high round draft picks on over the course of his 15 year tenure. You will be fascinated.

Kenny gotta realize that the average is going to drop off significantly when you bring NL to AL.

I could see that a pitcher's ERA or WHIP would get worse going from NL to AL, but why would it matter significantly to a batter? Especially one batting in the heart of the order?

Better pitching across the board in the AL.

That's certainly not true. Anyway, if NL pitching is better, how does the NL always have a losing record?

Samardiza

It's 1-5 ...not just ones or twos..and did ya see Cueto in the AL? ...and you are missing several names from the AL list.

Name whoever else you like.

NL has better pitching. Just take the top teams in each league and compare them.

The AL wins because every AL team has a DH..usually one of their top hitters. NL teams have to use a random bench player...not a great hitter.

Im NL ballparks...the best hitting pitchers are still below average hitters so there is little benefit over AL pitchers that don't swing a bat.

This isn't complicated stuff, guys.

That works both ways though. The DH is a big reason Kershaw and Arrieta look better than AL guys. They get to pad their Ks by striking out each other.

Starting pitchers have...2-4 ABs per outing...maybe strike out once or twice per game. That doesn't add 5 K's.

Sure...over the course of a year it will help the ERA and WHIP slightly but you don't believe in fractions so I'm sure you disagree with that.

I'm getting ready for a nap..but I didn't see verlander on there.. I bet you would have had Zimmerman on your list too if he was in the NL...his era be over 4 in a month..Notice how you don't hear Steve crowing about himlately? He's slowly getting peeled back like an onion in the AL..like most pitchers who get sent from NL to AL..Ted Lily was solid here..he was kind of a bum in the AL...u saw that buster Samardiza last year? U remember CC C. With Milwaukee? ..I could name 500 more..I won't, it's pretty obvious if you have an open mind...I'm an NL guy, I wish it weren't true..but it is.

Ryan Dumpster was embarrassed so badly in Boston he walked away 2 years early and left35 million on the table.

It might be said that the White Sox always get "big money" white guys that hit .200. I once made the mistake of referring to the "White Sox" as the "Sox" in the presence of a "Red Sox" fan and nearly had my throat slit by a 19 year old crew-cutted ginger hooligan screaming "Yankees Suck!" in mid February.

You laugh at Samardjzia, but then throw Verlander up there? If you wanna nitpick, they have very similar stats this season (Shark 8-4 3.58 ERA; Verlander 7-5 3.78). Not to mention you next come up with Dempster, who hasn't pitched in 3 seasons!

Huh?

Samardiza is in a pitchers park in the NL.

Samardiza gets to pitch in LA and SD on the road..it's a pitchers division for parks.

Verlander is in the AL in a hitters park
Verlander is CY winner..he's 50 games over .500 ...please don't compare the guppy to Verlander.

Dumpster hasn't pitched because the AL forced retirement on the ginger pussy...that's the point, he was #3 in the NL and mop up duty in the AL...Like Peavy or R.A. Dickey..like I said i could keep naming guys..I'm not going to..do some research, it's obvious to anybody who follows baseball.

So, are you talking historically, or just this season? Even so, "pitchers" parks vs. "hitters" parks is still kind of nitpicking in the grand scheme of things...

Yeah, keep naming guys in their mid-to-late 30s  - maybe that's a factor in why they've been bad in recent years? Peavy was already past his prime when the Sox got him.

I've looked for a decade to back up what I know is true...it's slim pickings. I'm going to emailsomebody ..maybe Rosenbloom and ask for a detailed researched article that's up to date.

Naming individual pitchers isn't a very scientific or SABRmetric way to do this. But this is the problem I have with the way people use statistics. It's never about being objective, but rather about supporting their own silly conclusion. If the NL pitchers were "better", how could they not have a better record head-to-head vs. AL pitchers?

Arrieta is no longer at the top of that list and the AL has a better head to head record vs the NL.

As a Cubs fan, I guess its no surprise that IMU would "take the NL any day"

You're simply an idiot if you think those lists were ordered lists.

There is one idiot in this thread. Its the guy who thinks the league with the losing record has better pitching.

And were supposed to believe that your boy Arrieta was at the top of that list purely due to coincidence? Please.

He was the first name I thought of. Wonder why...maybe because he is the best pitcher on my favorite team...and that team happens to be local.

We're**

I've already explained AL versus NL. It is a simple concept. For most.

Frank thinks I have Bumgarner last in the NL among aces.

Thanks for the apostrophe lesson.

It is a simple concept for most. You dont seem to grasp the whole AL has a better record vs the NL.

As I said, as a Cubs fans Im not surprised that you support a loser.
