The old logo was 48 pixels high and I wanted to work within those constraints. You can't have a banner this big. You just can't.

We'll get it centered but someone would have to create something that floored us in order for it to change. I sent Godfella a photo of the skyline and we exchanged messages until we got something we were comfortable with. IMU assisted with the rest.

If you are wiping out the text up there, I'd put an alt tag on the image for indexing purposes.

The logo is a phpBB variable. ex {SITE_LOGO_IMG}. It does not allow for an alt tag unless I hardcode the image and don't use phpBB variables. This might be fine to do...it is how it was done before...but I'm still learning the pros and cons of how this all affects Google. I believe the entire header will have significant changes in the long term. And some of that will be text.
