I still get a kick out of watching episodes of Match Game from the early 70s so I was looking forward to the new version premiering tonight.

90 seconds in and the contestant named Alissa should be shot in the chest with a deer rifle.

Alec Baldwin is fine.

JB Smoove is terrible.

Michael Ian Black seems to regret being involved.

It's not a good sign when Rosie O'Donnell is one of the least irritating people on the show.

Contestant Alissa won and will presumably be on the show again next week. I will not watch as I would rather bob for apples in a barrelfull of stillborns than be subjected to her idiocy one more time.

I told you people it would be an abomination.

There should be several blue-ribbon investigations followed quickly by numerous red-spattered murders.

I'll upgrade Alec Baldwin to good... I thought he did a very good job of carrying the show to this decade.

Not happy that Rosie is turning into the Dawson of the final match. She is 0-2 with 1 being her fault (spoiler alert.)

The stars don't get much better -- I've seen the list for this "season." Doesn't look like they are bringing back winners, so that is good.

I never thought I say this, but My God,where have you gone Brett Somers?

Alec Baldwin was pretty funny. If those quips were not preplanned, that is good work.
Even if they were,I still laughed. I wonder if that JB Smoove is a functional human being. It seemed he had no clue at no time. The other obscure actor in the left corner actually got booed too with one of his terrible answers. I'll watch again because I always liked Match Game.

Family Feud was ok. I laughed a lot. I thought it would be a team full of stars not a couple very marginal stars and their families. Ernie Hudson's family bitch slapped the competition. One of his sons got 186 points as the first half of the fast money. Impressive.

I did find though that Kellie Pickler may be the dumbest person I ever saw on television. That said the blonde that is on her tv show and was the last part of her team was great and out there. She danced around trying to say "doing anal" as one of the answers.

Family Feud was never as innuendo-heavy as Match Game, but yeah, now it's NOT EVEN THAT, it's pretty much

"Name something that hurts your butt."
"A PENIS FUCKING IT"
"I am a conservative black dad and you disgust me."

I, TOO, enjoy watching those old Match Game shows but this new incarnation was quite lame. First of all, fuck Rosie O'Donnell. She's a duplicitous phony bitch. JB Smoove just about made Curb unwatchable in the later seasons. He's an unintelligible hack. Everyone else was fine. Baldwin was adequate as host but I doubt I will watch it again unless the panelists change.

Yeah, that's fair. He was better than fine.

Thank God, at least in this case, they're not bringing back winners. She acted like everything everyone said and did were the funniest things she had ever heard and seen. Really obnoxious.

I think they should ditch the laugh track and tell everyone not to try so damn hard to be funny. Much of it seemed like a bad sitcom with unfunny jokes and canned laughter.

Stuff like JB getting up and dancing with whatshername felt so scripted. On the original show, it was funny because they were loaded and just messing around. This version felt like they were trying to force the excitement.

Wish they would have brought back the wheel and the DOUBLE section for the finals.

Him dancing with that annoying Caller Bob was just awful, and you're exactly right about what made the old show funny. They were just screwing around and it was funny because many of them were actually funny and clever.

Have you ever seen the first episode they used the "Star Wheel"? Everyone always picked Richard when they played for 10x whatever they won in the Super Match so they got the wheel to force contestants to play with someone else. The first time they used it, it stopped on Richard and the other celebrities jokingly got up and walked off the set.

The contestants on last night's show were not as irritating as the one woman from last week, but overall the show was still disappointing. Too many people who aren't funny trying too hard to be funny.

So I'm watching family feud tonight. Snoop's family wins and makes it to fast money. One of the best lol answers ever had everyone dying. They ask snoop to answer "pie in the ___?" Snoop pulls out horse!?!

The judges are veary lenient in terms of what they consider to be a match.

Everyone needs to take it down a notch or two. Everything everyone says isn't that damn funny.

I know they want people to win, but they made the Super Match very easy. A contestant also gets $1,000 even if they don't match anyone in the audience match as well as the chance to play for $5,000.

Leslie Jones is on next week, which means a lot of shouting and very little funny. I think Beni is going to have watch so I don't have to...

I didn't watch it last week and gave it another try last night.

Can't do it.
Can't watch it.
Can't win with 'em.

I can't take the phony bullshit of everyone pretending that everything said and done is hilarious or provocative.

I think the only game where this is a problem is Pyramid. Match Game and Family Feud were never meant to be serious games, just vehicles for wacky humor, so for the purposes of this summer-replacement block, it's fine that it's just celebrities having a good time and being all retro-kitschy. But Pyramid, despite being a game show with celebrities, was never really about showcasing how fabulous celebrities are: they just had to show up and play a deceptively tough game. (Also, of the three shows' original iterations, Dick Clark is easily the most famous television personality to host, but it was never about showcasing him, either.) The new Pyramid gets a lot right, but the more I watch, the more I notice what it gets wrong, which is the pacing and how much time is spent showing off those wacky stars occasionally tiptoeing around dick jokes. The exuberance that everyone is coached into displaying just feels, as you said, phony: all the WOOOOOOOOing, the high-fiving, the insipid chatter. It's just not a light-hearted game that way. Sometimes things were funny and people laughed, but it just sort of happened along the way; it was never designed to be provocative or racy. Stuff that shouldn't bother me has started to now, like Strahan asking a contestant what he/she is gonna do with the $100,000 that hasn't been won yet, which when you think about it is kind of a shitty thing to put on someone. I don't like that he has to explain the rules to the Winners' Circle every time even when the player is there for the second time in the match. And then I get mad at these annoying, fake-exuberant contestants who were cast for the show because they could high-five and WOOOOO a lot, and then get in the Winners' Circle and give "Captain Hook" as a clue for "Famous Captains" or "water in the ocean" for "Salty Things" like someone who's never watched the damn show.

Still better than Match Game.

You were doing great until "of industry," which probably gets you buzzed because you're no longer giving a list, you're suggesting the operative word. It's why "the water in the ocean" got a guy buzzed but "seawater" would have been fine. Honestly, I'm surprised this version adopted the stringency of the Very Serious Business $25,000 Pyramid and didn't just let it devolve into a free-for-all of celebrity wackiness.

The thing I have always hated about Pyramid (and that being said, I haven't watched the new one) is that the host at the end gets to watch this 30 seconds or 60 seconds to guess everything, and they always have a category they struggle in. So the host (Clark) gets to spend 20-30 seconds thinking of an answer with no pressure, and then gets to go up there and say "A baby's bottom" or "Shark's teeth" and then the contestant gets it right away and it makes the celeb feel like an idiot. Even if it isn't intended that way, it always came across to me as a douchey move... they lost, you don't need to rub it in with your perfect answer.

I doubt most of the celebrities cared. Dick Clark's Pyramid basically had a rotation of twelve or so celebrity players who were on all the time and knew what they were doing. I doubt Mary Cadorette or Dick Cavett (big exception to the more-famous-for-Pyramid rule right there) got shook by a perfect ex-post-facto clue for "Things That Are Magnificent" (Orson Welles's Ambersons, maybe?). Some of the one-offs, maybe, who knows.

I liked when the score would be, like, 14-9 heading into the third round of the main game and Dick Clark would just be like "look, you really have no chance to win at this point, if I were you I would just relax and worry about the next game." It was refreshingly honest. I think he did a great job of moving the show along and balancing the fun and seriousness without overdoing either.
