The Fitzpatrick brothers kicked the shit out of us in a Thanksgiving Day football game every year for years on end. One day at Quencher's when we were way too old to be playing tackle football, my friend Karl said to one of the brothers, "I like to think we'd give you a better game these days." Fitz became infuriated and said, "We'd kill you like always." We agreed to a game. I got a bunch of guys who worked for me who had played at Niles West to handle the speed positions. They brought a guy who had played QB in Division III. That motherfucker was fast. But we stomped them at the line. They were just a little too old. I called all the plays and my friend Dave the punky QB executed perfectly. It felt good when their toughest guy, Johnny who I had lined up against said after the game, "You kicked my ass all day."

Started at NT on the #6 team in Illinois, knocked New Trier out of the playoffs. It was a great moment.
