Terms for possible Yanks reliever auction

Some rival executives fully expect the Yankees to trade both Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman before the Aug. 1 deadline, and that the Yankees will run a two-tiered auction. Because Miller is under contract for two more seasons, there is nothing actually compelling the Yankees to move him -- other than to take advantage of his very high trade value in the market right now. Officials with other teams expect that the Yankees will set a high price on Miller, asking for specific prospects from other teams and telling them they can either meet the demands or they won’t get the player.

Olney spoke with “one evaluator with knowledge of the Yankees’ interest” and that person believes Cashman “will tell the Cubs that if they want Miller, they will have to part with young hitter Kyle Schwarber.” And if the Cubs say no to Schwarber, “the Yankees can simply move on to conversations with other contenders who are interested in the left-hander.”

I say No to Schwarber.....

If you have a left handed power hitter, I don't think you give him up.

But you don't have one. He's done til at least next year. He's a man without a position. He's a catcher who can't catch with a really bad knee. He needs to be a dh.

Providing he fully recovers, I think he can man the OF and 1B every now and then. I just think his bat is too valuable. Especially with it being from the left side.

Hell, Adam Dunn and Carlos Lee played the OF for how many years?

Tommy La Stella is back with the Cubs, and Joel Peralta’s time in Chicago has come to an abrupt end.

The Cubs made the move on Wednesday to recall La Stella from his rehab assignment. In turn, they have designated Peralta for assignment just a month after he was signed.

Thank goodness Theo stopped slurping his own pecker and dumped Peralta faster than he did with Veras or Coke.

Clearly nobody on the field otherwise they'd have been pulled.

Maybe it's for Charlie Furbush by cracky by cracky.

maybe Schwarber for King Felix?

Tim Kurkjian just reported on air that the Cubs and the Mariners have a trade in the works. Cubs have been looking at lefty Mike Montgomery.

Vogelbach for Montgomery per Jeff Passan.

Ken Rosenthal confirms.

Seems like a steal for the Cubs.

Montgomery was pitching well for the Mariners and Vogelbach would never play for the Cubs. Also Montgomery is still relatively young and cost controlled

One would think so ... time will tell.

Strange that the Cubs postgame show hasn't said 'boo' about it.

Montgomery has 5 years of contract control ... so that's nice.

Surprised it only cost Vogelbach. I thought the price for relievers started at Schwarber.

#Cubs and #Mariners nearing trade involving Dan Vogelbach and Mike Montgomery. I am told other player(s) could be included in final deal.
