It looked like David Wright was pretty warm out in the Mets' bullpen earlier.

I wonder why Maddon is allowing Jake to throw so many pitches before pulling him?

Perhaps to save the shitty overtaxed bullpen? No days off before all star break? Who knows?

I'm quite certain that's part of it.

It's worth pointing out to (or reminding) folks that they haven't had an off-day since June 16th ... and that they don't have an off-day coming until the All-Star Break (July 11th). It doesn't explain anything by itself, but it must have a part to the answer to a number of questions about resting folks, using or not using pitchers, etc.

I think if an opposing pitcher walks Heyward that counts as a forfeit, no?

Can I get a ruling on that?

2 out, nobody on, 2 strikes on Heyward...Bryant on deck. Groove one into Heyward, what's he gonna do, hit it to the outfield.

Patriots get on the board with a safety to make it 21-2 vs the new LA team.

Not with shit starting pitching and no bullpen. Heyward looking like the worst FA signing ever at this point of year one. Still a big division lead and no real threat behind. I say chill a while before panic.

Ben Finfer just told me that it wasn't Jake Arrietas fault the Cub lost yesterday. 4 ER in 5 innings with a 2.0 WHiP for he game . He's right, solid start from Jake there.

Well, all I can say is at least he didn't trip over his own two feet or try to advance on a pitch that the catcher blocked perfectly.

I do like that you're rooting for the Cubs today though.
