Since 2014, Jose Quintana has given up 2 runs or less in a start 42 times across 80 starts, for a rate of 52.5%. He has thrown a Quality Start nearly 72% of the time since then. I don't know if that's Ace-level, nor am I trying to make that argument, but those numbers seem to me to be pretty damned decent.

The guy has been everything you could have reasonably expected. Unlike about 22 other guys on the team.

Yes, I'm watching. I watched him try to hit Evan Gattis late in a 1-run ballgame, the result of which would have been a baserunner late in a close game. He failed, but that doesn't make the attempt any less stupid.

I dont know if its that great. Q does not often go more than 6 or 7 IP (he's a nibbler so his pitch count runs up a lot), and 48% of the time he's giving up 3 or more runs in his starts, which is pretty good if he's throw 8 inning but not so much if he's only throwing 6.

Over 60% of his career starts he's given up 2 earned runs or less.

Quintana still hasn't won a game this year when he's given up more than 1 run. He's 6-1 in games that he's given up 1 run or less in and 0-7 in games he's given up 2 or more runs.

Are they talking about Alec Thomas having a legit shot at being the 1st pick overall!?? Slow your roll fellas. He's good but he's no where near that good. Hell there's a kid in Wisconsin who's better than he is.

And in 7 of his 11 "No Win" performances (either he got a Loss or a No Decision), Quintana has given up between 1 and 3 runs.

Another series win, Sox climbing back into it slowly but surely.

They are playing good baseball, and have a great opportunity now to finish the first half on a 5-1 homestand. They will have Sale and Quintana going vs. the Braves to finish the 1st half and need to take 2 of 3 from the NYY in this upcoming series, but should be 4-5 games over .500 if they can finish the first half on a strong note.
