I thought he went to Northwestern but wasn't sure. I remember thinking he sounded shockingly stupid for someone who went there. AFAIK they're not like Notre Dame where they let in nimrods just because they're good at sports while trying to pretend otherwise.

Former CBS RADIO Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO morning host MIKE NORTH, who has been doing a daily show at his CHICAGOSPORTSWEBIO.COM since exiting THE SCORE last year, is expanding his site to carry local sports talk shows from 6a to 6p daily, beginning next month.

NORTH, joined by former CHICAGO BEAR DAN JIGGETTS, continues with "MONSTERS IN THE MORNING," simulcast on regional cable sports network COMCAST SPORTSNET, for 6-9a. CHICAGO TRIBUNE sports columnist TEDDY GREENSTEIN and former WSCR personality MATT WEBER will handle 9-11a, with former WSCR and WMVP-A (ESPN 1000) host JONATHAN HOOD and BIG TEN NETWORK college basketball analyst TIM DOYLE 11a-3p and longtime CHICAGO sportscaster and former SPORTING NEWS RADIO host CHET COPPOCK with retired boxer RAY "BOOM BOOM" MANCINI 3-6p. Former WSCR personality JESSE ROGERS will serve as PD.

NORTH told the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, "Each person will have a sales packet given to him. If they sell CHICAGOSPORTSWEBIO.COM, they get 15 percent. If I sell $100,000 worth of advertising, I get 15 grand. If (THE SCORE) did this, I'd still probably be there."

CHICAGO businessman DAVID HERNANDEZ is bankrolling the venture and has purchased 32 similar domains, including LOSANGELESSPORTSWEBIO.COM, according to the SUN-TIMES.

It was a spectacular ending, and I heard the last day on the air with Chet being the hero. But the ending at the game with Ben Finfer finding out on air that he was out of a job was even more precious. The best part was that Ben's on air partner was aware of the layoffs.
