What's the worst part of the suburb that borders your hometown?

Recently moved to Lemont and have to admit that Darien is nothing more than Woodridge's armpit.

I used to live on Singer Avenue years ago. Sister still lives in Lemont.

Rolling Meadows west of Wilke gets a little dumpy.

What if our hometown isn't a suburb?

Can we get a different question?

This was going to be my question. Most of my neighborhood borders the rest of the South Side....full of damn fine people, if you ask me, but Christ, it has its disadvantages.

Hmmmm...Libertyville can be pretty clique-ish and nouveau riche...otherwise, Ft Sheridan/Highwood and Lake Bluff are pretty cool. We're pretty insulated here in old Lake Forest.

The worst part of our neighboring town is they constantly encourage people from your hometowns to come "visit" over here.

I'm assuming that he means the town where you currently reside. How many people still live in the town where they were born and raised?

Points for punctuation omissions. I'll allow it.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

Edit: I just looked up 'Superfund' - and if it was, then it probably still is............

Lincolnwood seems to have transitioned from its Jewish roots to a city populated by gaudy Chaldeans who are intent to buy the love of their nearly adult children

Well I was born in Chicago but grew up in Gurnee and while Waukegan had some rough spots it also had it's charms so I would say the absolute worst part had to be Park City which was literally just a trailer park that nobody wanted in their town so they made their own town.

Wheeling - good hard scrabble people
Buffalo Grove - Jewish/Gar Foreman
Rolling Ghettos
Palatine - rival downtown entertainment to Arlington Hts. It's on!
Prospects - no opinion
Elk Grove Village - does anyone live here? Isn't it just one business park?

We may be getting a Begyle taproom though!

I'm pretty annoyed that the corner of Touhy and McCormick now looks like Schaumburg, but with beggars.

That's not exactly fair to Schaumberg. I have seen plenty of beggars getting onto the ramp at 53 and Golf.

Went to Ireland a couple years ago. The best beer I had a was a collaboration between Begyle and a small Irish brewery. Surprised as hell when I found a Begyle beer on tap at the Salt House in Galway.
