CHICAGO (AP) — A man has been carted off the field after he apparently fell from the bleachers onto the warning track during a rain delay at Wrigley Field.

The man was face down just in front of the ivy in right-center field Thursday night when officials started running from the dugouts to assist him. They immediately checked his pulse while a medic ran in from right field.

It took three people to turn the man over onto his back. They then pulled up his shirt and put on a brace to stabilize his neck before strapping him onto a backboard and carting him off the field.

Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. and pitching coach Chris Bosio also went out to the outfield to check on the man.

There was no immediate word of the man’s name or his condition.

Good thing Heyward didn't go out there. He probably would have fallen on him.

Maybe they were filming a follow-up to that commercial where they pulled, amongst other things, Andrew Dawson out of the ivy.

No kidding. He obviously would have had to climb in the basket to land on the field. So, yeah, he was drunk as hell. Probably was trying to run on the field and maybe do a body slide on the tarp.

I had an acquaintance who fell off a wall at Soldiers Field in trying to get around crowds while drunk. It was all great humor at the time but stupid drunks tend to remain stupid drunks. He recently got sent away for running over someone who was attempting to stop him from drunk driving

that's a wonderfully apropos picture to go with the cubs recent swoon. outside of picking a better font you could have a text bubble from the dude saying "don't worry we're still up 9 in the division"

Signed to a 10 day contract going to play RF instead of Heyward after the All Star break. Looks less dead in the field than Heyward does at the plate.

I thought it was a miracle that the Cubs didn't lose the game by the Braves hitting a home run that just cleared the basket section that was bent from his ass hitting it en route to the Cubs missing the playoffs by 1 game.
