The senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done.
This morning I offer my thoughts and prayers for all of the victims’ families, and we pray for our brave police officers and first responders who risk their lives to protect us every single day.
Our nation has become too divided. Too MANY Americans feel like they’ve lost hope. Crime is harming too MANY citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isn’t the American Dream we all want for our children.
This is a time, perhaps more than ever, for strong leadership, love and compassion. We will pull through these tragedies.

Don't send prayers. Send money.

And ban the internet.

If either Hilary or Trump wants to run on a send money and ban the internet platform they will get my vote.

NO, this is a time for conservatives to admit

- racism exists
- white privilege exists

And start to deal with the slavery and racism that has always existed in this country.
Also, I think it might me time to criminalize hate speech.

Yeah taking that action seemed to completely get rid of xenophobia and racism in Britain. That's why they are still in the EU.

The UK has very strict libel laws even against public figures. The hate speech laws are a legacy of the rise of Nazi's and European guilt over WW2. They're trying to prevent a repeat of that.

The Economist always marvels at the United States' fervent commitment to free speech, even offensive speech. I don't want to be more like Europe......I want American values to thrive within our borders.

Criminalize hate speech?

You mean criminalize speech and thoughts that you disagree with or more importantly those that are in power disagree with.

Bad idea.

Slavery still exists?
That's gotta be some strange tax paperwork ... I mean, at first you'd figure they'd get a 1099-MISC except that's for independent contractors ... maybe it's, like, a 1099-SLV ... or just a W-2 like you would a household worker.

Those nations in Europe aren't what you want to be emulating. The criminalization of speech is only applied to a certain group. But if you're a big believer in jailing people for saying things you or others might disagree with there re other places on this planet that might fit your authoritarian lust.

The white privilege is differential, though. Like "Black Lives Matter," its title is a little misleading, or at least seems to unnecessarily invite potshots. As white privilege is an amalgam of race, class, caste, and other things, we can't dumb it down, but when most people discuss white privilege, that's just what they do--reduce it to some simplistic, racially-driven explanation.

I studied the entire whiteness and white privilege phenomenon when it first became a thing in academia, and I was as ambivalent about it then as I am now. I never thought the concept would catch on, since it was largely born in the minds of upper-middle-class academics (well, and DuBois 80 years earlier).

Isn't hate speech criminalized already? To make it more criminal would be a gigantic step backwards.

He was just on Don Lemon's show. He's out there. I'll give Walsh this: He doesn't back down. He actually made a few small concessions, but the things is, the guy offers little evidence for what are essentially unsupportable claims. He's tapped into anger, though, so he's got a job.

I saw it. He gets credit for nothing. He's clearly in need of mental help. I don't mean that to be funny or insulting. He is stone cold fucking insane. And yet he is the voice of a small group of people.
