But no other time period of the 'extended' transition was gone. This whole thing took months, literally. But....just that night is gone, as a whole segment.
And you called it as it was happening. You said that that night's posts wouldn't survive.

I still say that it's weird that the one night didn't carry over to this board. If you knew that it wouldn't carry over...why post your rant to the board? You knew it wouldn't last on the board...but you did it anyway? It was a massive post.

I don't think I came out swinging. My post still exist. I believe someone posted it here. We lost an entire week during the initial switch. Clearly I knew what wouldn't make it over because we backed up the data at like 11 that morning.

The post you made that night was the post that "broke the dam open", as far as the handing over of the board. You were very accusatory toward BF in that post, more than the other 2 people have ever been before/since.

Considering the whole "handing over" of the board.....it seems to me that precise hour that night was the most critical. And it's now "gone".

Shit was going down. It happened quickly that night. Everything prior to that took months to happen....everything since.....still happening......gradually....

We would have loved to have all the data but BF had already moved the domain. IF we didn't back everything up that morning we would have lost everything. That 10 hours or so was important but not as important as ths other 13 years.

I want to make it clear that I am speaking for myself. These are not the thoughts of the Three Wisemen.

Like MANY, I really enjoy this website. I've been posting here for nearly 12 years and this community has become an important part of my life. The diversity of the community and the diversity of opinion is what I enjoy the most. This place can be equally informative and entertaining and it can also drive you crazy. I haven't always agreed with BF, but I have always appreciated what he has done over the past 12+ years with this site. I've made a few donations over the years to show my appreciation and I've personally let him know how I felt about this place.

In November BF reached out to dozen or so of us. He wanted all of us to get together so he can share with us some important news about this site. When we got together in early December, he let us know that he was moving and starting a new venture and would be selling this board as well as another website. He said he had some interest from some outside parties, but he preferred to keep it "in the family". Everyone there had some level of interest in acquiring it, but all of us wanted to keep it in the community. I and MANY people there really appreciated that he brought all of us together to let us know what was going on and give us the option of taking it off his hands.

Right before Christmas I met JORR and Seacrest for drinks at Miller's Pub. This wasn't really anything new because we meet somewhat frequently for lunch. While having 1 or 30 drinks we discussed taking BF up on his offer and acquiring this board as well as Redacted. In the end, we all agreed to be partners. The following day we let BF know and in a few days he agreed to sell it to us.

Before an agreement was put in writing, BF decided that he wanted to retain Redacted. He adjusted the price accordingly and we all agreed on a number and the terms of a sale. We were supposed to finalize the deal in early February, but there were some delays with some things BF was involved in and the date kept getting pushed back. We all know how much BF loves this site so I thought he was having cold feet. During this time we exchanged dozens of emails, met in person with BF again and there were a few text messages mixed in. Finally, in April we got a somewhat concrete date. At that point, BF gave us Admin power.

What I appreciated a lot during the entire process was BF letting us know that he wanted us to look good when we took over the board. He banned a few people and said, "You guys can reinstate them all when you take over (except KeepingScore) so you can look like the heroes." I thought that was really kind of him.

As we all know the change of ownership wasn't smooth. There were several hiccups and in the end nearly a week of posts were lost. What you all don't know is that while the Three Wisemen have control over the board (at this time), we don't own the domain name. In fact, the transaction has never been completed. There have been virtually daily requests for BigFan to send us an invoice so we can finalize the transaction, but he never got around to doing that or transferring the domain name either.

We understood that BF was busy and that the money probably didn't mean anything to him. We believed that he would get around to doing it once he had a chance. Because we appreciated what he had given all of us over the years, we volunteered to create a section in his honor that he could promote his websites and even moderate. I was putting the finishing touches on it and had planned for it to go live today.

Unfortunately, over the past week I started to suspect that BF wasn't going to send over an invoice UNLESS we banned posters or ran the board in a way he liked. I was against this (I'll let JORR and Seacrest speak for themselves). Over the past 24 hours, BF sent an email saying that we need to renegotiate the terms or he had no issue with virtually killing the site by moving the domain name (that he still owns). As we can see by his series of posts, he's probably serious about doing it. It's unfortunate, but that's where things stand right now. Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this issue and finalize the terms that we all agreed to. If not, we may see the death of CSFMB as we know it.

i have to say that i feel...... something, when i go to biggie's new digs and see most subforums populated with 98% topics started by biggie all by himself. obviously, i reckon he's just providing a veritable template to show n00bs how to get their feet wet in the deep end of posting @ THE ONE TRUE CSFMB... still tho idk if i feel kinda bad/sad/miffed/heh/or-what that he's putting out that kind of effort to try and start up a new board all like he took his ball/domain-name and went home.

ah well, god bless biggie in any and all of his future endeavors. even tho the feeling evidently wasn't mutual at/near the end, i never harbored any sort of ill will towards the guy and it was pretty legitimately WTF?! to find out that he thought i was legit taking multiple shots at him when i don't even have anything to take shots @ him for/with/about/etc.

The truth is the dam had already broken when Nas made that post. bigfan was making all those crazy threads threatening MANY posters and sending us PMs and emails. It certainly wasn't our intention to lose any of the board history from that night. The only reason this board currently exists is because we saw the writing on the wall and backed up the original board. Once that happened bigfan probably felt like he had no choice but to complete the transaction as agreed. We- specifically Seacrest- were still trying to work shit out amicably with bigfan. We could have just said, "fuck you" and run this board with his years of data without paying a dime, but that would have been dishonorable and I don't think anyone could accuse the three of us of any dishonorable behavior during this whole mess. Was it dishonorable to take the money and immediately start a new board? I'll let others decide.

It happened quickly because that was the timing when bigfan literally took back the board and attempted to destroy everything here. It was remarkably smart of the Three Wisemen to have done a backup when they did as bigfan had for months been delaying doing things that should have been done on day one of the transfer over. The board likely would have been down for weeks, if not forever without that and then the step of moving over the site to a new domain. bigfan seemed dead set on letting the whole board die because certain posters were let back in here and now he is certainly attempting to "gradually" destroy this board in a different way.

The others have basically filled in the rest but as someone who was involved in the actual transfer at the last minute to try and ensure that this place didn't die I have to say that your posts that this was some sort of secret plan to prune one post is pretty misguided. The Three Wisemen were jerked around for months. I'll share this piece of information since it was publicly available at all times during the "transition". From the moment the board was "transferred" to the Three Wisemen, and during the entire run they had up to and including the Saturday backup and the next day when bigfan hosed the whole board he had yet to transfer over control of the domain he had "sold". For those who are unaware, domain names are basically the phone numbers of the internet. You point that domain to an ip address on a server and that is how everyone gets to your site. It's pretty much the #1 thing that changes hands immediately in any website deal. It takes roughly 5 minutes to initiate and then another 5 or so minutes for the other party to accept it. I had been periodically warning them that it still had not changed(all of this information is public record using the whois database). There is only one reason to do so, which is what happened on that Sunday morning. It is to take back control of a site that you "sold". This is exactly what happened. bigfan moved it back to his own server with a cryptic message about society being allowed to rule itself. A scramble had to be made in order to ensure that the Three Wisemen had at least some control of this message board rather than it being inaccessible from the internet at the whim of bigfan so this domain name was used that was out of bigfans control. This is ultimately when bigfan lost his last bit of power to destroy the board and eventually he agreed to the deal. To the best of my knowledge, the actual domain transfer then happened and now we know that this board and community is able to continue.

Then he went and created his own competing board with the purpose of beating this one while also keeping many of the his own list of people he doesn't like banned.

So, in short, we should be thanking the Three Wisemen for doing us all a huge favor rather than throwing out accusations about things that were ONLY caused by bigfan.

Do you really consider this thread a promotion, spany? I didn't have malicious intent when I started this thread. I simply clicked a wrong/old bookmark on my phone, and saw the new site. If I didn't start this thread, somebody else would have for sure.

I mean, I get the "any publicity is good publicity" feeling, but everybody here (for the most part) seems to know about the new board. I think the lack of activity over there speaks for itself.

I said it before and I'm not doing it for attention but bigfan sent me a PM before threatening to ban me just for being part of a group of mostly banned posters that were considering forming another board simply so we could discuss with them. The board didn't even exist but he made it clear that if I ever posted on that other board that I would be gone here forever.
