It was a very Rocky III moment.

Good for them. They needed this.

Jordan Goodwin expected to also commit to the Illini. Hopefully Groce's inability to coach won't hurt the signings.

So I guess he won't be fired before he signs.

Depends on how much evidence there is the next time a player murders someone.

Jeremiah Tilmon not going to sign with Illinois. Probably off to SLU with Goodwin.

Groce and Illinois basketball enter an even deeper crater. Ugh. Brutal.

Illini class is gonna be rated #1 in the B1G and Top 10 in nation....Dr. Ken may have something here.

Too bad that Evanston kid went to Purdue. I guess B.Rick has more influence than Goff.

Evanston should be a serious team this year.

Maybe we can stop talking about 1968.

Figured out how to recruit. Now he needs to figure out how to coach. Hard to win with no offensive system and playing no defense.

Apparently the loss to Winthrop a couple days ago was a program-builder:

The Chicago Tribune wrote:
Illinois players and head coach John Groce acknowledged that the little mistakes hurt the team at the end, but Groce thought this was something that his team needed.

"It was good for us," Groce said. "We needed that challenge and we'll see how we respond on Thursday."

I think this may be the first time in the history of college basketball that anyone has ever said losing to Winthrop was good for their team.

We're trailblazers.

Things don't promise to improve this weekend. And yet, he's got an awesome recruiting class, which could give him more security. Tilmon probably saved his job.

Go figure.

Five in a row! Mizzou tonight! I think we've progressed from an NIT team to a 1 and done in the NCAA tourney team.

Still look like shit half the time. Will be lucky to win 6 games in the Big Ten this season.

I think they'll do a little better than that, but probably not much.

Luckily it is mostly a down year in the Big Ten. There may only be three really good teams and then there is always MSU who suddenly goes from DePaul to Duke in the span of a couple months every year.

If they win tonight they get to ten wins. There are 18 Big Ten games and they are going to have to get to 20
wins to even get a look. Gonna be tough. They get Maryland, Michigan, Iowa and Northwestern twice. Even in
a down Big Ten it will be tough for them to even go .500.
