How long until Rozner does one of his stupid bits? I'm out the second he does McGowan, old sport reporter, etc.

I'm patiently awaiting W&S to start, Philly. I'll go to and fro between that and Shade 45, yo.

Silvy actually takes Bulls' brass to task, unlike the constant dick-throating from B&B. It's a refreshing take.

I agree that it is preferable to Bernsie bending over and offering his balloon knot to anyone with a key to the executive washroom, but I'm not interested enough in the Bulls to listen to much discussion about them.

Ah, the WOPR. That was an awesome computer. About as powerful as my toaster is now. I loved the guy who freaks out and says, "It's a simulation!"

I actually like Rozner--until he does his whiny fan schtick. He's an acquired taste, no doubt, but he's not without intelligence. Can be very funny, too, but sometimes his humor falls flat.

Rozner tends to get worse the more you consume. What you soon realize is that he has a very narrow set of jokes with a rinse repeat philosophy on using them. It is the exact same way in his print column. What's worse is that he plays the same themes in his columns and spins any issue to his own bias.

For instance, he hates Gary Bettman with a passion, and I think most NHL fans have the same view. But he just wrote a poor Blackhawks salary cap column, and of course the spin is that the entire thing is Bettman's fault. Yes, Bettman is the reason the Canadian dollar fell so much or that players want to suck up a huge portion of one team's cap.

He has it out for the Bears. He loves the Cubs regime and will chide anyone who doesn't believe in the Plan (lots of straw men).

He hated Lovie Smith, and so he could never objectively assess his performance. Any time the Bears won a game, it was because the of other team making mistakes. If the Bears lost, it was all Lovie's fault.

I am ok with having a strong opinion. But it clouds every column he writes. And he brings the same bad lines day in day out.

I just listened to a 20 minute segment by three guys talking about what they hear and how they feel and how do the players feel about the coach and so on and so on. I eat up Bears talk but these boobs knew nothing and told me less.

I will definitely take your word on that. I'll listen to Bears talk, but I'm more of a college fan, so I don't have too much of a reaction. When he eschews the jokes, though, I like him better than Bernstein or Goff. Actually, I think the thing I like about him is that he is usually decent to callers. If he disagrees, he'll explain why (unless he is falling into his schtick).

That's my ringing endorsement.

Of course it's not Bettman's fault the Canadian dollar dropped, but it is the fault of the owners, as represented by Bettman and the firm of Proskauer Rose, that the players' share dropped from 57% to 50% after the 2012 lockout, which drastically reduced the salary range. And though it's several degrees of separation away, you can always argue that ill-advised franchise placement suppresses revenue (I still suspect this is by design: with Florida and Phoenix there to drop the average, that's revenue that Toronto/Montreal/Boston can bank without having to worry about spending).

I don't know about that stuff. My point is that if Bettman solved global warming, Barry would still write a column ripping him to shreds. Today he had fun attacking Bud Selig.

He never lets up on the hate train.

Yeah he had to lead Bernsie down the whole Selig/all-star game thing. That naturally led to the next CBA and how the players will never have to give up anything unless there is a two year lockout. Real all star week feel good riveting radio.

Haha yeah. Kap was annoying today with calling the callers cookie. But he has grown on me.

As for BF, I've enjoyed the interactions over there. I won't apologize for it. And I know a lot of folks are reading it. That measure meter plug in works great for seeing all the unique IP addresses running through there.

You know I hadn't listened in awhile so I put on this show today. They went to break at 3:54 and didn't come back until 10 minutes later with actual sports talk. The update started at 4:01. There's no point in even putting the station on during the day unless it is right after the top of the hour. You'll get about 15 minutes of talk right after the top of the hour update. The rest of the hour is littered with commercials with occasional 2-3 minutes of talk. You might get 5-7 after the half hour. It's un-fucking-real.

One of Dan's complaints about Disco Demolition was that "Disco's actually great." I'm guessing that's another evolved position.

Rozner is an idiot. He was saying a bunch of dumb Cub fan stuff on Hit and Run, but yeah, he's not a Cub fan. What if the Cubs win 110 games and they have to face a 92 win Boston team in the Worls Series without home field advantage because the Cub dominated NL All-Stars lost? As if the best record ever got home field advantage. And never mind that 92 AL wins is probably better than 110 NL wins. What percentage of Cub homers have come off Reds pitching?
