You are a weird dude. You champion so many other things and outright dismiss a mental disorder in a man that has not hasnt had it manifest in years.
Well he still came off as a jerk a few times with the Bears but he avoided criminal action.

I just don't think you can explain away all of his actions, and there were a lot of them, because of his "mental disorder".

I guess the question is why didn't he get help much earlier rather than when he was traded to the Bears and when he wanted to do a media career?

Revisionist history. He DID start getting treatment in Miami, and that was WAY before any Inside the NFL or whatever shows.

pittmike does have a point. You're one of the most logical guys on this board, but this is clearly more of an emotional argument for you. You just don't like Brandon Marshall, and it's causing you to sound a bit silly when discussing his disorder.

You are the one bringing emotions into it. To discount every violent act he ever did because of his "mental disorder" just isn't logical. It could have contributed to it no doubt but you can't just say "I had a mental disorder" and it erases everything in the past. Otherwise, OJ and Aaron Hernandez could just say "mental disorder!" and we would just say "Not their fault".

Marshall still comes off as a jerk. He got into it with teammates in Chicago. He has gotten into it with teammates in New York already. He had that bizarre press conference with more victim blaming.

I'll be honest. From what I can tell, Marshall blames his "mental illness" for virtually all of the bad things he has ever done. I just don't buy it that he never had control of himself for any of the many things he did. It's great he has avoided criminal activity since then but it doesn't completely erase the past that you haven't hit women recently.

If you can't see that instance as his particular brand of personality disorder down to the "T", then you shouldn't really be talking about what was and wasn't the fault of his mental illness.

EDIT: Actually, that's what retroactively makes Bernstein's incredulity during the whole thing so galling--if his wife really has BPD, he should have known from the beginning of that press conference exactly what was going on, and he chose to mock and ridicule someone so clearly losing a battle with a mental disorder, just because he didn't like him. What a fucking chode.

To be fair, he did say publicly that he was "cured" by whatever sessions he went to, and if he does indeed have BPD, that's something that, as I understand it, can really only be maintained with regular therapy and other coping outlets, like the other two big "Cluster B" personality disorders (antisocial and narcissistic). Saying he's cured of that raises serious questions about his understanding of his own diagnosis, and even the diagnosis itself.

He is a huge narcissist. I didn't know that is considered a disorder.

Did anyone else infer that Dan hadn't even confirmed if the e-mail was really that of the guy's wife?

It seemed legit to me. The guy was more surprised that Dan went there, rather than the actual validity behind it.

My take as well. It's akin to IceGirl coming here to interact with like minded individuals all willing to bash Drinky. In Bernsie, she had a ready made hater who was very excited to get any dirt she had to offer.

There are guys here who still think Icegirl is a mult. But we're really going to believe bernstein when he claims an obviously unverified email is from this guy's wife?

Yes. It sounded like Bernstein just realized that as he was saying it to the guy.

I like how they edited together a package they can replay with a bunch of quotes in the interview done in a fast way.

I don't believe the stuff about the ex-wife made it.

I'm told someone over heard this exchange...

Penn State Player in the 70"s - "Coach, that Sandusky guy is strange, I think I saw him fondling a little kid in the showers last night"

Joe Paterno - "Listen kid, I don't care if Sandusky had his arm up that kids ass, we got Dorsett and Pitt coming to town in two weeks, we gotta practice"

I disagree. He clearly called Dan a liar, then dared him to read it on the air.

Is this acting as the de-factp showthread for 7/14? Idk of its worth starting a new thread for this, but upon hearing some vintage "PeDANtic Bernstein" re: PBJ on marble rye, I was wondering PeDANtic was on the Bernstein Bingo sheet (did CH ever make a Bernstein Bingo board?)

Btw these Dan+Drinky "DP" reads are totally PTFB. Seriously if they're not telling me about massages that TRUST THEM I WANNA GET , or uhh lingerie or something, then its stuff like right now with "mattress" reads. Trust Dan, you don't make many mattress purchases in your life so you wanna dole out extra $$$ when you DO get a mattress: TRUST HIM ON THAT ONE.

Seriously, these ain't reads for PBJ on marble rye man children. This is stiff for GROWN ASS MEN who literally want a foundation for WANG WHIPPING™®© (with or without BBS-es? ;)

And yes I noticed that typo for "stuff" and figured it was apropos on some ol "this time my phone really DOES know better" =D

He did not say he weighs her every day. There would have been a 100 page thread on it here if he had said that. That would literally be spousal abuse.

He absolutely said it. It was a few years ago, before everyone turned on Dan, so it passed largely unremarked upon here.

he's not only said something pretty similar to that, he's said it multiple times.

Dan's obsession with this case has entered the Pete Townshend child porn research level creepy. Can't get over the that he though revealing that he contacted the guy's wife man him look like a serious journalist in his mind.
