Unbelievable. We're gonna get one a week for the rest of time.

It's gonna happen at a baseball or football stadium one day. I know they now have metal detectors. But somebody will still get a gun in.

All this shit going on in the world is really wearing me out. I can't even bring myself to gif anything or anyone because I feel emotionally exhausted... Now I know remember why I stopped wanting to be a journalist in college.

Don you see the video of the truck going through the crowd?

I've seen two or three views ... the one they run a lot on CNN was reposted privately by some cat in better resolution (the one from I presume someone's deck or window or something). I also just saw that one twitter vid of the guy walking down the street 'documenting' the carnage.

It's not something that those easily disposed to infantile hate or capitulation need to see, but it helps to keep one sober when thinking privately about the situation, specifically and more generally.

It's difficult to stay objective, and not resort to knee jerk reactions with this one. I'm no atheist, but do we really need religion if this is how extreme it can become? Is religion blocking the world from truly taking a step forward in evolution and prosperity?

I'm not going to join you on that train ... it's inarguably lazy to employ the word 'religion' as some homogeneous catch-all for one thing. I sort of get your point, but it needs a good deal of refinement before becoming something that can evoke meaningful discussion.

I can get how you did not like the knee jerk kill em all mentality. I don't remember seeing it before Don. Can you share with the class what your solution to end radical Islamic terror attacks?

I know man. I'm not advocating the end of religion, but more so speaking as someone who is done with people dying because of a belief system.

Granted, I'm not naive enough to dismiss the 60 or 70 years of 'tinkering' the U.S. has been doing in the Middle East. Blowback is a bitch.

Not sure actually. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. When the terrorists are among the general population you can't just go bombing ng the shit out of them.

you know man, i think it's about time that we had some kind of serious discussion about setting up some "common sense" laws of the shariah variety. seriously, you know, if there's purportedly some "zionist occupying government" seeking a "new world order" where one government rules all the world, why don't we just kill.... erm, how about "pelt" two birds with one stone by having our inevitable quest for a "ZOG"-brand one-world-government tie in with the requisite submitting to the will of allah as we bring in the one true caliphate for our "new world order"?

seriously man, all i hear about muslims is that they're top top quality "good old fashioned" hard-working people who are all about peace. seeing as these attempts to roll with "christianity" for the last couple'a millennia have only resulted in death and destruction (personally, i blame the "crusaders" for not being more "tolerant" and "understanding" of their muslim brothers-n-sisters) therefore given the annals of human (read: CISgendered white PRIVILEGED) history over the last thousand years or so (chock full of death, destruction, inquisitions here / holocausts there and the occasional smallpox blankets given out as party favors) i think it's nigh time to give the religion/culture of PEACE a try and realize we can nip all this terrorism in the bud if we simply just submit to allah and give up a few things on the sly/wink-wink-nudge-nudge.

seriously if anything, look at how much bang for the buck devout muslims get out of alcohol and realize that can and WILL be us once we grow up and stand down and TRULY accept diversity into our hearts/homes/daughters. like redman b4 me i can't wait to get it on!

religion is just an excuse. if it weren't that it would be country or race to whip up the hatred against others who have victimized you

I agree. Religion is the tool, but the reasons behind these attacks are a lot more murky than MANY want to admit.

EDIT: MANY

Oh, well that's good ... I honestly starting taking a 'swing' at you then considered that I might well be misinterpreting your comment and instead went with the far more benign 'Kissinger' line because I could portray it as either playful or an opening salvo after the fact.

Look, all I know is sweeping generalizations aren't generally enlightened nor a way to solve anything, any more than sweeping the dirt into an obscured corner of the room really cleans a floor. But, in a world that seems to only have 'time' for superficial instant soundbites and disdain for honest, long-form discussion, my concern doesn't primarily lie with the question of whether "we" (whoever 'we' is) will figure "this" (whatever 'this' is) out, but rather proceeds more from how badly will "we" fuck "this" up, and will it be too late to unfuck "it".

While he's doing that, please expound on your views that the 2nd amendment is there so that we as citizens are able to take up arms against a tyrannical government. Seeing as somebody did just that and 5 members of the Dallas PD are dead I'd be interested in your thoughts.

One wonders how closed-off you 'circle' of people you exist within is that, somehow or another, you got this idea that you're particularly clever.

i don't know about you, don, but that's certainly a phrase that i've (essentially) heard many times when i'm "out on the prowl" at a bar doing the whole "looking for love in all the wrong places" thing. et tu, brute?

in the spirit of playing devil's advocate, at this point what's left to discuss/argue/etc? it's pretty much the same general plot/schtick/happening.... just one more time like that one daft punk song everyone knows and loves/loathes (even if they don't know it's technically a daft punk song they do know that song from it's ubiquity over the years)

seriously where's there to go from here? i had my ~6 month siesta from the board so i missed a few happenings during that time.... but i'm pretty sure that everyone here who participates in these threads pretty much knows who's on either "side" of these "arguments" -- ergo, we're already going to know who we wanna high-five and who we wanna motherfuck when we load up the next [happening] thread endeavoring to say the same basic thing/s that we said last time.... what's the point in the grand scheme of things anyways?

</ExistentialCrisis>

thus, that's where i think "levity", even if besmirched into the lesser synonym of "trolling", has it's place. in trying to make some sense of this ONE MORE TIME!!!!!

I don't think some cops running duty at a protest would actually qualify as "tyrannical government agents". I could be wrong, though...

btw, i have an IMPORTANT QUESTION regarding this latest horrible thing in france:

last i heard there was a semi-confirmed death total of 73+... so does that mean that we're supposed to use those avatar-filters for twitter/facebook to "french up" our avatars to show support for france in light of this horrible event? or is it like 100+ or 125/150+ have to die b4 we do that?

i just wanna make sure i don't end up consuming any freedom fries that are supposed to be french fries during a time where we're supposed to give our unwavering support to france.

/me goes to buy some 12"s from ed banger records to support france in their time of need (yeah i already have that squarepusher cryptic motion 12" with the mr. oizo remix on the b-side which i'm pretty sure is an ed banger 12" so i gotta <HAWK> STRETCH!!!!!!!!!!! on this one. catchy enough song with a solid gimmick for the video here tho even tho for some reason i can see this song annoying curious hair =)

How quickly we forget the 100M or so wiped out by atheist governments in the 20th century.
