Disturbing that this news goes unmentioned in most forums, including this one. This 6yr old deserves our thoughts and prayers. It's a sad time when someone shot by a cop gets more support then when our children are shot out playing on a hot day in their front yard. If this was another cop shooting, we would have 10 pages already. :(

6-year-old girl shot, critically wounded in West Englewood
http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/7-year-old-girl-shot-seriously-wounded-in-west-englewood/

A stray bullet hit a 6-year-old girl who was sitting on her front porch Tuesday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood, leaving her in critical condition.

As Tacarra Morgan sat with her mom and grandmother on the front steps of her grandparents’ home in the 6000 block of South Paulina Street about 1 p.m., a shooting began to unfold a block north.

the group and again opened fire.

“Shots were fired southbound, and unfortunately this poor little girl just happened to be out in front of her house,” Escalante said.

“We were sitting on porch because it was hot inside and here come a lot of shots, coming from no where and we ran in the house,” she said.

Tacarra was scrambling for the door when she was hit.

“It’s a shame kids can’t play outside,” she said. “They can’t do anything. Every time I turn on the TV some kid is getting shot.”

“If you’re the average citizen sitting at home and this doesn’t make you angry, then I don’t know what will because a 6-year old playing on her porch should not have been a victim of this senseless gun violence,” Escalante said.

Tacarra is the sixth child 11 or under to be shot in Chicago in the last three weeks.

Tacarra Morgan's grandfather, Arthur Morris, points out bulletholes in a front window of his home — just a few feet from where his granddaughter was shot.

“Everyone was saying, ‘Get down. Get down. They’re shooting,’ ” recalled Arthur Morris, who disregarded the warning and rushed outside — but the block was quiet again.

Moments later, with bullet holes in the front window and family members still seeking cover on the ground, Tacarra spoke up.

“She said, ‘I’ve been shot’ and pulled up her blouse and her intestines were coming out,” he said.

“I wish it had been me in place of my 6-year-old granddaughter,” he said.

Relatives said Tacarra is a bubbly kid who loves jumping rope, riding her bike and acting like she was older than 6.

On Tuesday evening, Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson issued a statement while in Washington, D.C.

“The level of gun violence on the south and west sides of our city is absolutely unacceptable, and it’s appalling when our children are caught in the crossfire of individuals who have no regard for human life,” Johnson said in the statement. “To safeguard our neighborhoods and our children, it is imperative that we establish a culture of accountability for repeat gun offenders in Chicago and hold them responsible for senseless gun crime.”

I know this doesn't fit the narrative of political regression or police racism that BLM stands for, so you won't see any of this highlighted on their website or see them shutting down a city street in protest.

My question is where is the outrage for these innocent children. Tacarra only wanted to go outside and play on a hot summer day. Why is this not more disturbing then any of the deaths caused by police officers responding to a 911 call?

Where is the protest for the six children who where shot the last 3 weeks? Is Obama going to speak to the black community and call for them to be accountable for their culture and not blame guns?

No, this story will be ignored after a couple days until the next child is shot and then rinse and repeat.
Seems like BLM to the media and social forums only when killed by a cop.

This kid was killed over the weekend. What is a 15 yr old kid that lives on 73rd and Dorchester doing walking around in an alley on 47th and Ellis at 12:50 A.M.? Why does someone feel strongly enough about him to shoot him in the head?

The difference is no one is going to argue this was a justified killing, and if the person who did it is caught they are almost certainly going to jail for a very long time.

1) It is a small community block protest. Not the huge city park/shut down Wallstreet protest you would see from BLM.

2) The focus of this "rally" is GUN VIOLENCE and not GANG VIOLENCE or black on black crime.

3) The community always has a "rally" when a child is shot and nothing changes, except the location.

First, there are protest about gun violence in black communities around Chicago almost daily. You will probably see more of them in Englewood than anywhere else. Unless they happen after a high profile shooting, they get very little coverage.

The protesting by BLM and MANY other organizations have more to do with the appearance that ALL cops are above the law. No one thinks Ray Ray or Lil Pistol Starter are above the law. They'll be arrested and spend the majority of their days in prison if they aren't killed first.

So if it isn't EVERYTHING that you want it doesn't count? Got it! Maybe you need to spend a little more time getting prepared for the Muslim invasion.

Oh ok, then forget I posted this. Waste of time. Thanks for clearing it up. No need to talk about children being shot and giving out thoughts and prayers. Hey, look RR is back!

We can talk about it but don't include "It's a sad time when someone shot by a cop gets more support then when our children are shot out playing on a hot day in their front yard. If this was another cop shooting, we would have 10 pages already." unless you want the logical answer as to why that is talked about more.

What the hell are you talking about? I think this kind of violence deserves more attention then police violence. What an asshole I am. Your right NAS, give her a couple teddy bears and a photo in the suntimes showing all the candles people put out in front of her house. That is more then enough, because the real tragedy is the guy getting shot after robbing a liquor store.

I don't typically agree with this guy but he is spot on in his analysis with regards to this particular issue.

The problem that I have is that they tend to be "marches" and "rallies" as opposed to protests. They also never bring the perpetrators of such acts to the table. You have to hold gang members and drug dealers accountable first. It can't be the inevitable "Stop doing this"? Speech that invariably becomes a part of this.

There has to be an outline as to how this behavior is destroying the community.

Actually, he can probably down several, especially now that Baby McNown has found an investor to finance his Buffet of Cock restaurant concept.
