this is mental. i'm sitting out here having a cigarette on a sunny day where it's ~90+ with a 100+ heat index (aka "you're sweating if you're outside" aka "virtual florida mode") and yet over the last ~5mins there have been thunderclaps of pretty solid strength off in the distance.

indeed, despite being able to see sun shadows on my driveway i just saw a flash followed by a pretty darn loud thunderclap. yeah there's clouds in the sky but they don't look potentially menacing... yet there's enough of them around to give me lightning flashes during a sunny day; i guess round 2 of the biblical storms is coming, eh?

well that makes sense seeing as the greatest # of clouds seems to be due north of here, plus lately north-of-chi has been getting hit the hardest as the biblical rain/s last night started off just north of the skokie corridor but then shifted due south to re/build-up and then go proper yellow/orange-to-red on the radar b4 moving E/SE.

still tho, having flashes of lightning further illuminate an otherwise sunny day (complete with shadows on the driveway) = new one for me.

I'm just chilling in the basement, and all of a sudden, I can hear the winds howling outside. I ran upstairs to look out the patio doors. My five year old son said that the grill cover blew over the garage. I immediately doubt that and think it just blew into the neighbor's yard, or something. My wife looked out the windows on the other side of the house, and sure enough, the wind grabbed the grill cover, threw it over my garage, and dropped it on a neighbor's mailbox, one hundred feet away. The storms blew in from the west, yet the grill cover landed to the northwest of my house.

I also have a maple tree that hangs over the street, and a bunch of branches feel into the street, making it impossible to traverse by car.

it's raining. believe it or not water is actually wet IRL!

dumbass levity aside, i'm pretty sure that the storm that tore through here (north/northwest chi/burbs) likely played a part in what ended up being a pretty !!!! accident that totally fucked up the inbound edens right at touhy circa 11am. it was one of those accidents where the outbound edens was also backed the fuck up simply from the rubbernecking, so of course i'll see if i can get the little QVGA video i took of it off of my phone in a cpl mins here.
