Eaton is their best position player, he's in the prime of his career, and he has a team friendly contract. Also, I don't think you could get good value for him. He's just not high profile. I mean, this season should put to rest the idea that Jason Heyward is a better player than Eaton, but I don't believe it has.

But isn't that part of the problem that needs to be fixed? If Eaton is your best position player, you have a problem.

Based on this years stats, Eaton is far and away a better player than Heyward. But looking at the career numbers they are not that far apart.

No, but Eaton is a 4 million dollar player as opposed to $18 million for Heyward. Do you think they can get more value than that by trading Eaton?

Body of work still has Jason Heyward as the better player, to this point.

Adam Eaton is currently playing much better...and it may be that Adam Eaton will permanently overtake Heyward shortly.

I'm not willing to say that at any point in 2016 though.

You keep Eaton. Hahn absolutely torched Eaton's agent in negotiations. He's cheap and bats leadoff.

Sox have him under control until he's like 33 or 34.

I don't know about that. They're similar except for their paychecks.

yeah I get the money situation. Clearly you would rather have Eaton right now than Heyward. But couldn't it also be argued that this maybe the high water mark for Eaton and he will never have any more value than he does currently? If you can get something of value for him now and you are going to rebuild anyways, shouldn't you do it? This is probably the best Eaton has to offer, you don't expect him to get that much better do you?

Trading Adam Eaton is treading water at best. It creates another hole where right now he is penciled in until 2021.

I expect him to maintain this level for another few seasons, probably until his early 30s. He's young enough to be part of a rebuild. And like I said, I don't think you can get enough for him.

I don't know about that. They're similar except for their paychecks.

Before Jason Heyward's putrid performance this season, he had a large gap over Eaton in most important hitting statistics...and all fielding statistics. Now that Eaton moved to right, he has been excellent defensively. Even better than Heyward.

But I still see Heyward having .800 OPS - .850 OPS seasons like he has in the past. Eaton has never done that.

Or maybe Heyward is broken and will remain garbage.

He had one .850 season. His rookie year. Heyward looks like the league has figured him out. Great defensively though.

If we're using adjusted OPS, Eaton is actually having a down year himself.

Thank you for confirming that Heyward has had .800 OPS - .850 OPS seasons in the past.

Wasn't Heyward's contract front loaded so that he is actually making more than 18M per for these first three years

I doubt that. You don't take short money and hope to be traded.

That was March 2013. A lot can change in three and a half years.

The White Sox were 85-77 after 2012. Things were looking up. He was much less established and financial security is always nice.

Chris Sale is a human being...he could look at his own club and be extremely frustrated by the lack of improvement.

Then why would he be so angry that he caused a "clubhouse incident"? Or do you think Kenny told him they weren't trading him?
