Many people know someone who knows someone who has overdosed from Heroin. Many of us have read stories in our local newspapers about the widespread availability & use of Heroin. Many of us with high school, college or older children have heard our kids talk about the former classmate who OD'd from Heroin.
This epidemic hit close to home last week for us when a friend of my Son, & a former college classmate of my Daughter, was found dead in his bedroom by his Mother at 3:30 AM. 25 years old with his entire life ahead of him. He lost his Father a couple of years ago, then his best friend overdosed on Heroin & died last year. He had difficulty dealing with those losses, & despite the fact that his best friend died of a heroin overdose, he made the mistake of trying it for the first time & he couldn't stop. No one can. He was a great kid who everyone loved being around. I know that a few board members have dealt with addiction problems either themselves or in their family & it saddens me. I have no idea how you get through something like this & move on with your life.
My thoughts & prayers go out to anyone who has dealt with, or is dealing with this in their lives.

I know 20 people who died from smack or opiates in the last 10 years...2 heroin overdoses this year both were 38 years old and been clean for 4-5 years...the doctors created an epidemic in this country .

Nah...most been battling it since they were 19-20...I asked em before why would you put that poison in your arm and she said " no matter how shitty ya feel it always makes ya feel like you are wrapped up in a warm blanket " I'd never try it..I'd probably love it

I messed around with heroin for a little bit. Never had any problems but I would only snort it. Best drug I've ever done by a mile but it definitely grips you quickly so I got out before it would be too late.

Do you really think that I would make a crack like that after somebody died from an overdose? You must really think I'm a terrible human being.

I have lost a few people in my life due to that drug, over the years. This all starts with big pharma filling everybody up with painkillers. People usually start there, and move on to cheaper, more accessible heroin.

I was kinda hoping Chus just ignored SH's post and went full throttle about the bet. Chus had a chance at a heel turn but instead decided to put Scorehead over.

Sure..lots have kicked it, but many more couldn't..I bet its the hardest drug to kick, even if ya get over the dope sickness and stay clean for months or years..that first relapse is what is usually fatal. N they can't handle the potency after being clean for an extended period of time and that's not even including the fentanyl getting used here n there and junkies unknowingly killing themselves.

Smackheads coming out of rehab or who have been "clean" for an extended period are the ones most likely to OD.

MANY more people are addicted to and die from smoking cigarettes.

That's great that some experiment with it and walk away. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of statistics that prove that's the exception, not the norm. There's nothing recreational about Heroin. It's deadly, available, and very inexpensive.

There is a tie to the opiates and prescription drugs that get prescribed. Kids and young adults get messed up on that shit and turn to heroin because of it's affordability and availability.

No jokes....sorry for your loss. Not a single day goes by that I don't fear my kids eventually experiment with this shit. It's awful.

One of my dealers for other things used to talk about going to some place near Cicero/Roosevelt called the brickyard for H. I've only found it myself at Cabrini (now gone) and the huge public housing project at Western and Madison (Rockwell Gardens? big building's gone for a decade or more now).

I'd never go into Cabrini or Rockwell solo tho. Always paid a local to go in and come back out with. Cabrini was always lit up like a Christmas tree. Rockwell, this was toward the end, was fucking scary at 3 AM as a lot of the lights didn't work. And junkies and crackheads milling about out front like zombies from the walking dead. Image

They call the Eisenhower the Heroin Highway for a reason.

yeah, same, only insulfated. i don't think it counts the same as bangin it.
I wonder if shooting up heroin prevents puking? I'd almost always puke first after first rail or two. And then get bitched at for wasting good drugs. before everyone would nod off for the next 10 minutes.

Rockwell used to be near Jackson/Western. I remember one of my former students told me that a local drug dealer had purchased one of the buildings for 10 mil. That was funny.
