That's why you are a sycophant Cubbie fan. Two major base running gaffes that cost the Cubs runs. I guess he doesn't trust his bro Rizzo to come through.

Btw, Theo talked to those involved about Chapman.

Did I miss your hand wringing over this like you did with Ray McDonald?

They get it for tying the Series, too! WHOOP-FUCKING-WHEE!

I guess it gives Sox fans something to hold on to besides their dicks.

That seems to be the theme with everyone after the game. I need my ace giving up 3 at the most, but more like 1 or 2. He's losing lots of money with the 2 shit months he has had.

He did pitch a pretty good game for a normal guy. People were used to him being superman

I think its telling that the expectations of him have changed among fans. It also doesn't look like he is intimidating hitters any more either.

Hawk said the same thing. He started out the year on fire as well.

I don't know if the no hitter was a point of viscissitude but he just seems overworked

An ace doesn't give up a 3 run home run in that situation. Simple as that.

But yea, ultimately the base running cost them the game. I watch a lot of baseball and I don't give a shit what some gay ass advance metric says; this is the worst base running team in the league.

I can't stand aggressive base running. Giving up outs isn't winning baseball. I wish they'd become more conservative on the bases.

Yes, Epstoyer did the same things George did. The difference being Chapman is one of the best closers in baseball. As I said previously....if a guy is a bad guy and is talented, he will be playing somewhere. McDonald was just another guy who wasn't worth the risk.

Still waiting for the news of Ray Rice and Ray McDonald's signings. Or I guess they are both still being blackballed. Rice has even agreed to donate his salary to charity and no one will take the bait.

A sycophant McCaskey fan calling someone else a sycophant Cubs fan. Beautiful. Read that thread. Whole lot of bad from you in there.

I'd run on Cabrera all day. There's a reason he's in left field, last night excepted. I'll take aggressiveness on the basepaths all day.

Melky has a good arm, it was dumb to stretch that single..I thought Maddon should have reviewed it though...dude blocked the bag before he had the ball..illegal I thought.

Nothing like a trade to show the hypocrisy of being a Cub fan. You accept bad behavior when a World Series or Super Bowl is involved.

No Bigfan to slurp back and forth with on this anymore.

"As I said before....this team is not winning the Super Bowl. This was an unnecessary distraction. And now all involved look stupid." (You responded with   , which I'm still trying to figure out)

"If the Bears are a Ray McDonald away from a Super Bowl, then you take a low risk gamble.

If you are a 1st time GM, probably not the best way to start your career off."

My direct quotes from that thread. No hypocrisy whatsoever. AS I SAID BEFORE......if you are going to play the bad guy card, it better be for a difference maker. McDonald was not......Chapman is. And if Chapman gets arrested after this trade, like McDonald was, then Theo and Jed and Tom are going to look as dumb as George did.

Nice try with the BigFan deflection, though.

Hope that Ray Rice blackball ends soon.

As of today, 2.76 ERA, 146 ERA+, 1.084 WHIP. And for JORR, 12-4. He is an ace.

He just has to work on his walk rate a bit right now.

People don't realize how good Arrieta was for the Cubs OUTSIDE of 2015.

During parts of four seasons with the Cubs, he is 48-17 with 2.37 ERA, 2.70 FIP, 0.972 WHIP, 3.62 K/BB, 163 ERA+ and just under 7 IP per start.

He was an ace for two months of this year.

His ERA since May 3 has steadily climbed (from .84 to 2.76) with almost no instances of regression from any start. He has gone less than six innings in 5 of his last 14 starts (6 out of his last 16; 9 out of 16 starts are 6 or less). Maybe this is just an extended blip as rest brought a return to form.

Arrieta is clearly struggling with control. He's overthrowing his pitches, specifically his fastball. Whether he's overthrowing to compensate for a small drop in velocity or because he's simply lost confidence, that's an argument that won't have a conclusion. I think he's mentally struggling with being sharp. he's spent most of his career mastering his control. He can still get back on the train if he stops fighting his pitches.

He did sound like a guy mentally drained when he described the necessity of the off days during the ASB.

agreed, but is he physically taxed or mentally taxed? That's a crucial difference. You can fix physical. Can't fix mental.

He's still got enough spin on his stuff to be successful. He's still the most trustworthy starter on the team. Is what it is.

It's as if one game has invalidated the results of the 90 games beforehand.

The subdivision is falling right into the trap of Jerry, Hahn and Williams.

Da Sax can go four and one fitty eight as long as day beat the nort siders in all of d'air games.

When you're an ace, you're an ace. You still have your ups and downs.

I was at the game last night. I think you might have been as well. He looked good, except for that three run home run. From a guy that hits a lot of home runs. I was annoyed with his walks...but he seemed on. He had a very good pitch count until that 6th inning.

I think 2014 Jake Arrieta is the closest to the real Jake Arrieta. He is an ace...a great pitcher... but probably not historically "one of the best ever."
