What a yawner.

It's like they didn't give a shit tonight.

Let's hope they wake the fuck up at Wrigley.

Awful game. Lots of horrible at bats, especially from Bryant. Guys made Shields look good. Heyward is a automatic out, and Montero is a out, unless he gets a walk somehow.

I watched a couple innings and I had the exact same feeling. No patience in the few at bats I saw.

Additionally, a stat that really bothers me is Kris Bryant is batting .064 against change ups this year. Fuck.

At least we can try to blame the loss on Monday on bad baserunning.

What the hell was that last night? They were shutout by James Shield and his stuff was garbage last night just like it has been all season. How is that even possible?

We sometimes think that the Cubs are better than they actually are because of an incredibly hot start in the first month of the season but this is just two mediocre teams battling out.

Luckily for us, you can be mediocre in the NL and still have a shot at getting to the World Series where as this is pretty much it for the Sox.

It would be nice if they try looking like they give a shit like the Sox do.

Cubs aren't mediocre. There are a lot of phases within 162. Let's get annoyed...but let's not be ridiculous.

Get in as much as you can now. I feel that some of you will become quiet very soon.

Like how quiet Cub fans have been over the last 48 hours?

The Cubs are almost assured to play October baseball. It wont be very MANY games however.

I'm still here. I'm not putting any weight into two games. The roles are reversed now...these crosstown games are your playoffs. I'm happy that you're winning your 2016 championship.

Why is this meaningless? The Sox had the BP cup last year too. Were you content with that in October?

Of course you're not. Your team lost. If the Cubs won the last 2 games, you would be very chippy. Don't lie and attempt to claim otherwise.

Based on what I know about my time as a Sox fan no one really cares about beating the Cubs but it is funny to see them get all mad and cry "THIS IS YOUR SUPER BOWL!".

As if Cub fans don't care about these games. Let me predict that when they are pounding Triple A Pete tonight MANY of them will be crowing as if they are taking down Game 1 of the World Series.

That's not true. The majority of both fanbases want to win these games really bad. People just say they don't care to look cool or something.

I don't hate the Sox or root for them to lose but when the Cubs play them I want them to smash them.

I don't know why others have such a problem admitting this. It's denial.

Well, I don't expect a guy to crawl out of the minors and shut down the juggernaut Cub offense. But Cub pitchers have been a little short on "run support" the last couple nights.

If they played in some other divisions they wouldn't get to crush the Reds so many times. Look up the percentage of Cub home runs that have come off Reds pitching. The number may shake your confidence somewhat seeing as how they won't be facing Cincinnati in October.

I haven't even been chippy when the Cubs took a series from the top team in the AL...why would I get chippy about beating an also ran?

Your team does not matter. This series does not matter. Your team is not a player in the 2016 baseball season.

On Friday, you'll be celebrating a split at worst. On Friday, we're going to be checking to see what our final 25 man roster will look like as the team competes for home field advantage.

Celebrate. Get rowdy. This is your season high.

Once again in any game with any sort of elevated meaning the Cubs completely fold the instant something goes wrong. Bryant's robbed HR in the 1st of game 1 set the tone, and while the Cubs made an effort in the 9th that Montgomery loser let the AAA tandem of Shuck and Saladino win the game in the 9th. And in game 2 all it took was one measly first inning run to get the Cubs to quit. It doesn't take much to rattle the Cubs, just a rivalry game against a shitty team in disarray over a meaningless joke trophy and the faintest sign of early adversity.

it just means Cubs fans are now on the side of playoff randominity instead of against it. If they get in they'll have the same shot as anyone else.

Every team has the same chance in the playoffs? Really?

I've been arguing this for some time. You choose now to have this argument? I've said repeatedly I don't like the Cubs chances in the playoffs. But to be fair, they could get to the world series.

I've never said "the playoffs are a crapshoot" (except maybe to ridicule the idea). Sure, a seven game series has more randomness than a 162 game season. It's a game of time and repetition. But all teams aren't equal and most of the time the better one will win the seven game or the four game or the three game series.

let's quantify this. What is "most of the time?"

Congrats to the White Sox on winning the least prestigious trophy in all of sport brought to you by an oil spill company that has a packer color scheme. The bottom of the lineup for the Cubs is a seeping wound right now with Heyward and Montero out there, but I have faith the bats will pick it back up. Pleasantly surprised that Joe Nathan's stuff seems to be decent I think he might stick in the pen down the stretch.

Would the trophy mean more were it gaily colored?

Except it is the opposite. The Cubs have generally shown up in big series this year.

The Cubs are 12-9 against current playoff teams.

The Giants? 12-11 against current playoff teams.

Rangers? 12-11.

Nationals? 10-17.

Baltimore? 22-14.

Baltimore is the only clearly dominant team out of the top tier teams.
