I didn't watch the game but it looks like Quintana may have to start pitching complete game shut outs if he wants to win. Nearly half his career starts have been no decisions.

That would be back-to-back top-10 picks in the 1st round destined for bullpen usage at-best. Passed on Kyle Schwarber for 5+ BB/9. Fire everyone and burn everything.

Rodon fell into their lap, hard to really fault the pick. The nice thing about blowing the team up is you can just toss Rodon and Fulmer out there next year with no expectations. If they suck so what you're trying to punt 2017 anyways.

Come on man, I don't think you can say they are destined for bullpen use. Especially Fulmer. Give the kid some time.

Rodon has been showing in his starts that he's not very good at playing the "long game" of starting pitching: he nibbles too much, and is inaccurate to the point of walking too many people. As a reliever, he can let loose with a 96-97 heater instead of resting at 92-93 trying to go the distance. As for Fulmer, it is early, but from before the draft he was pegged as a guy whose best use would probably be as a reliever.

They have nothing to lose with that. I remember being pissed seeing him drop to the sox and then going with schwarber. I'm really curious what the Cubs would do if they passed on Rodon. That draft had 3 top tier picks then a pretty big drop off.

The bigger problem is the sox desire to rush these guys up to offer the fans a draw. Lucked out with sale but no luck with these two. You can also make the case with Anderson, his glove is mlb ready but hasn't a clue at the plate other than see ball, hit ball.

I can. Schwarber was there at 3, and was rated as the #2 college bat in the draft by MANY, as well as being a left-handed power-hitter and on-base machine, something the team has been trying to find since Adam Dunn.

Come on again. The Cubs were criticized by a lot of people for reaching on Schwarber when they took him.

Rodon was considered a clear top 3 pick.

Schwarber was only a "reach" by people that had Conforto as the better college hitter in the draft. Why they thought that, I have no clue. Both had similar profiles outside of hitting (burly, bad at defense, corner OF at-best), but Schwarber was clearly the superior power hitter with a better swing. MANY had Schwarber as, at worst, a close 2nd to Conforto in terms of college bats.
