Maybe I'm just jaded by the team's failures, but this is the kind of player I imagined headlining a deal for Robertson or Cabrera. Maybe there's something I'm missing about Duke but it's a pleasant surprise that they get a guy with some useful tools close to the majors for Duke's corpse.

Some aren't aware of how well Duke was performing because Robin was using him primarily in a LOOGY role, because lord knows Fat Albers and Dan Jennings need more innings.

Looks like it'll just be Zach Duke and maybe Robertson dealt. Sox had a lot of chips but couldn't do anything, my guess is organizational infighting over the franchise's direction.

Yea I didn't realize they extended it another day. I don't have any MY GUY kind of info regarding the deadline really, just a sense that they will stand pat based on what I've seen.

I don't really recall him like breaking big stories or anything....but my memory may not be very good, but all I seem to recall is him saying things like "there is a lot of chatter about ....." whatever happening. Basically meaning he has read some twitter or other online stuff and is saying something may happen. Sure he reads up a lot on the Sox and knows stuff.

But I have a hard time giving too much credit to a guy for his work when he does not realize that the trade deadline was extended to Monday when it has been widely reported around the internet.

I still think, Kenny is fighting Hahn about a rebuild. If would not surprise me, if they dont trade anyone and think they could retool next year.

Catching up from a week on the road without much interwebz:

- Duke is being purchased for the Cardinals for one thing: to be able to pitch to Andrew McCutcheon or Bryce Harper or Anthony Rizzo. This half-generation's version of Peter Bourjos doesn't help the Cardinals worth a shit for the next five years, so they essentially got Duke for free. And Hahn was happy to unload Duke's remaining salary and bring somebody up from Charlotte or Birmingham to pitch those innings in August and September.

- Nobody other than Kenny Williams would submit a waiver claim on Robertson, so they can wait and find a team that's 2 out on August 31 and deal him then.

- I think Sale gets moved on Monday, but it might take a 3 or 4-team deal similar to the Nomah to the Cubs deal in order to get enough prospects lined up to make Hahn be able to convince Kenny and Jerry to pull the trigger. But Sale has shit on Kenny's head multiple times, so Kenny will eventually say yes to a trade.

- I have no clue re Quintana. But I can't see the White Sox figuring out a deal there.

- I had been surprised there's been no talk on Brett Lawrie, then I looked up his stats and saw he was just put on the DL. Shitty timing, as they could have gotten something for him from a team that wanted a platoon 2B/3B against lefties.
