Uhm...most people?

Quote:
Wonder what happened in that back yard. 18 year old dude training to be a boxer.

I'm wondering when the fatal shot was fired. Was he shot in the backyard, or was he shot while in the car, and finally succumbed to the wound trying to flee?

heck, even Tony Soprano out-ran the cops in that season finale when the New York boss gets a warrant served.

Revealing mistake: In that scene, when Tony runs away from the camera towards a forested area, you can clearly see he is wearing golf shoes to maintain traction in the snow.

I saw the video and I don't know what protocol is but it looked like a justified shooting. Also I think the kid lives if he doesn't run.

More than anything I just feel shitty watching that. I think he died the moment he tried pushing through the road block.

That's the brutal part, the kid lives and is probably able to live a normal life if he so wished after a few years in the pokey...instead he chose to toss it away. I don't get the running from the cops thing, where is it your going to go? Someones basement?

He also lives if he doesn't get out the car and run. I'm pretty sure that isn't good for a gun shot wound.

People panic. Who knows, he might have been afraid that the cops would torture him. I get that he is the one who set all this in motion, but he might have been thinking that. Such a waste.

Is going to jail living? I have no idea how long of a sentence he would have received, but I could not handle a day inside prison.

People who run get away often enough that it's not a horrible decision to run from the police, except if the cops are going to shoot you dead if they catch you. then, not so much. also, helps if there's a group of you running. then you just have to outrun the slowest guy in your crew.

If he didn't have a record I doubt he goes to prison.

Joyriding is a misdemeanor, like trespassing. They'd drop the evading charges in exchange for a plea? Isn't this something Spada could've handled.

I've seen other people say something about the car's owner being robbed, too, but haven't been able to confirm that.

ah, that'd make sense. had to mug the owner to get the keys.

difficult-not-impossible to start a car these days without the chipped-key. last time i did anything like that it was with a hammer, screwdriver and a pair of pliers, but on a pre-chip key car. Other than vettes and some cadillacs, GM cars ~pre-late 90's/pre-2k were ridiculously easy. Just crack-open the steering column ignition side and you could start it with pliers.

course, why'd you wanna steal a non-corvette/non-cadillac gm car in the first place.

jags all have on-board gps that transmits back to jaguar's security infrastructure, didn't really need to go chasing this dude around. unless he disabled it.

owner of the car watching the video prolly screamed "DON'T SHOOT" when the cop pulls up to take shots at his ride.

Again, all the focus is on the cops. They were both wrong and both should be punished.

Right, and your post is disregarding those laws. Mine does not. The logical end game to your rational is to shoot little kids who steal candy bars. Like I said, it's really stupid.

Well if you steal a car, get caught and then ram a cop car trying to escape, chances of getting shot are pretty good.

Look at the original post I quoted and disagreed with.

I've never seen a kid use candy bars as recklessly and dangerously as Mr. O'Neal used that car. I also believe the value of those two items might be quite different.

I'll rephrase for you...since you want to play your role so diligently:

Don't want to get shot? Don't steal a car. Don't want to go to juvy? Don't steal a candy bar.

I'm on board with increasing the severity of punishments in this country. Maybe if this kid was disciplined better as a youth, he wouldn't be jacking Jaguars at 18.

Kid probably got what he deserved. "Oh, but he wanted to be a pro boxer!" Yeah, I'm sure your son was a saint.

So you're on board with shooting suspected car thiefs, sending kids to juvy for stealing candy bars, and feel confident this kid "probably" deserved to die based on watching a 10 minute clip? Yikes. Good thing you aren't going for a career in law enforcement or politics.

Oh my bad. In your world I guess the officers would be blessed with psychic abilities and never shoot up the wrong car.
