Never say never, but it's highly doubtful Javy will ever hit for average and get on base the way Machado does.

Brett Jackson would be more cost effective.

I agree.

I didn't like the signing, but I have warmed up to Lester, however.

'Outperforming' is debatable for a few reasons, not the least of which is M2 had a 6.7 WAR compared to Javy's current 2.1.

Yeah Lester is just fine by me. And I actually think he's going to age well here with the Cub.

Got to develop or acquire some young SP's pretty soon, because in a couple of years it's going to be time to pay the piper in regards to Bryant & Russell. Adding to that, Rizzo is going to be due a make good contract as well.

I'm perfectly happy with Baez.

'Outperforming' is, as I said, debatable.

I'm going to have my mult Boyd stick Darko's grill brush up your butt next Saturday if you don't watch it, mister.

Sources: A's employee spied on players with hidden camera

An Oakland A’s employee planted a hidden camera in the O.co Coliseum weight room to spy on players and personnel, league and union sources told Yahoo Sports, and was suspended while an independent law firm hired by the organization concluded its investigation into the case.

Major League Baseball, including its Department of Investigations, and the Players Association monitored the investigation, both said Friday. The law firm is expected to present its findings to A’s players on Monday.

“This was the misguided action of one employee,” said Billy Beane, the A’s executive vice president of baseball operations. “We hired an independent investigator. While the employee’s intentions were good his judgment was very poor.”

The team’s longtime strength and conditioning coach, Michael Henriques, admitted to installing the camera, sources said, in order to observe players working out and rehabilitating injuries while the team traveled. According to findings in the investigation, sources said, Henriques set up the camera on July 24. The A’s left that night for Texas and a 10-day road trip. A player discovered the camera inside a box the following afternoon and notified Sean Doolittle, the team’s union representative, who took the camera to team management.

I hear you. There's a dearth of starters in the system.

If they win a WS in the next three years, I'll be able to die a happy man.

The upper deck of the Oakland Coliseum has been closed for years now. It hasn't always been tarped over, but they haven't sold upper-deck tickets on a regular basis in at least ten years. It's a shame about the old San Francisco White Sox. I always liked them.

EDIT: Most of Mt. Davis is closed off for A's games as well. What a boondoggle that thing turned out to be.

Cumulative statistic... you're better than that.

Also, 4.3 of that was dWAR.

I wonder how the stadium situation is going to resolve itself in Oakland. Neither league wants to lose a Bay Area franchise with all the money there. Once the Warriors move to San Francisco, that frees up the Oracle footprint to build a new ~36,000-seat park for the A's. A new Raiders stadium would have to go where the current Coliseum is now, but that necessitates moving the Raiders out and into Cal in the meantime IF THEY'LL EVEN HAVE THEM.

The most creative solution would be to do five home games at Cal, two in Los Angeles as a conciliatory gesture from the Rams and NFL for not letting them move there full-time, and one in London or Mexico or China or wherever else the fuck Goodell thinks he can get people to like dudes running into each other like mating elk. Two years of this while building an, oh, 50,000-seat concrete cube should be all it takes. This doesn't sound likely, but if you're following the developing clusterfuck with Las Vegas and the warring factions that'll prevent an NFL stadium from getting built there, it's more likely than that.
