African-Americans, while representing 13 percent of the U.S. population, account for 71 percent of gonorrhea cases and almost half of all cases of chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, and syphilis.
African-American teens are three times more likely to get pregnant than non-Hispanic white teens.
Those teens' birthrate is more than twice that of non-Hispanic white teens; the abortion rate for African-American teens is four times that of non-Hispanic white teens.
did you factor any of this into your figures?

Do you think it is a benefit?

I do as well. I also dont consider aborted fetuses "babies" nor abortions "Murder", or providers "murderers". Nor would I choose to align myself with bomb throwing criminal zealots who more often than not are bigoted hypocrites (imo) telling someone else what they can do in this instance. But for Bush v. Gore and Citizens United related cases abortion rights might be one of my first questions for any federal judicial nominees.

And I'm not really interested with more pointless "debate"

Well, birth control is readily available and the issue is getting worse. Why is that?

Economics, disillusionment & poor education have to be factored in as well.

I covered this if you've been reading my post.

BTW at every age group the birth rate for blacks is higher than that of whites. Same with Hispanics. Abortions have slowed the progression of whites no longer being the majority in this country.

I understand that. And I agree.

But Walt's premise that the lack of birth control is the sole cause for increased STD's is not accurate.

As more become properly educated and access to birth control and condoms become more available to disadvantaged youth abortions are declining. In teenage pregnancies are declining across the board but not as quickly in minority communities.

No one here is surprised that you gave to an organization that targets African-Americans.

Your pride in such a move is somewhat perverse.

The government statistics on abortion having nothing to do with religious propaganda.

Agreed. Many religious people seem to think that conception takes place when a person even thinks about sex.

You're correct that debate on this issue is pointless. No one is going to change anyone's mind. I don't believe in God, so I think the morality here is the way we, as a society, value life. That's my main issue with "choice". Abortions on demand reduce the value of your life and mine.

If there were a room full of day old babies and a guy was going into that room to kill them (with the approval of their mothers, of course), I don't believe many Americans would have a problem with someone putting a bullet in the guy's head before he could do it. Why is it different three days earlier while they are still in the womb? And here's where the debate becomes pointless. Most of us have no problem swatting a fly or letting a trap snap the neck of a mouse or killing an animal for food, etc. At what point does that fetus become something higher than a mouse? I suspect Seacrest and Nas (along with many religious people) might say the moment it is conceived. I don't take that view, but I also believe it occurs well before the seventh month of gestation.

I have more than one friend(women) who think that, until the umbilical cord is cut, it is a fetus and still part of the woman's body and it is the woman's choice as to what to do with it. I think this is an extreme position in defense against anti-choicers who think every single abortion is murder, as some on here admit to.

If it's one side or the other, I'm taking the side of a woman having the right to her body and a fetus still attached to the umbilical cord is still part of her body.

In reality, it never comes to that, so I'm good with establishing a limit, at a point where a fetus can't survive outside of the body without herculean medical efforts.

If someone wants to sink their money and efforts into creating an incubation facility that can take a fertilized egg all the way to birth, more power to them. That would be another option for a woman...go in for an abortion/embryo removal and let it be brought to life in the lab...or placed in human incubators who want to have a child of their own or for future adoption.

I don't really blame women for that though. They've been taught that such is their "right". Who wants to give up a right that they have? It's not a lot different philosophically from the NRA not wanting restrictions on bazookas. They see it as a slippery slope leading to their "rights" being truncated.

It is one of the best ways to avoid unwanted pregnancy and therefore lower the amount of abortions.

That's awfully sinister...and kinda crazy.

Did you read the link that you posted? A stated goal of Sanger's was reducing the breeding of the "inferior stock" and possibly forcibly sterilizing them. With blacks and Hispanics accounting for 2/3 of abortions I would say Mission Accomplished.

I don't disagree but some may be afraid of the side effects and say condoms are the best alternative if you are going to have sex.

I understand an individual choosing the best option for them.

I am referring to those who fight against others and their ability to easily get it.
