"If you don't subscribe to a Wilsonian foreign policy, Friedman economic policy, and Falwellian religious doctrine then you are not a "true conservative". They also have allowed conservative talk radio and Fox News to hold them hostage. Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity, and Levin should not be vetting potential Presidential candidates. If they don't past the conservative media smell test then they aren't viable in the eyes of many conservatives."

Yeah, I am done playing that game. I want small government, and that doesn't mean world policeman, hating on gays, denying abortions, or rounding up Mexicans.

Republicans need to define their value system. If it is truly small government with fiscal sanity, you can't cut taxes to balloon the deficit, increase military spending, or promise that social security will never change. The problem is the Republican establishment doesn't really believe in small government. So as they go further down the authoritarian path of a police state, I move further in the Libertarian direction. They already lost me on social issues, and I am about halfway there on fiscal issues.

Guess I'm not a conservative.

If this was Trump and he had the father of a terrorist that committed one of the worst mass murders in this country of all time, the media would be foaming at the mouth and in a frenzy. They covered the Trump baby comment 5x as much as they have covered this. People just blindly follow Hillary...

Hardly anyone likes Hillary. All the polls show people can't stand her and don't trust her. The problem for Trump is that he keeps saying, acting, and doing things that are so stupid, even hard core Republicans are repelled by him.

People are holding their noses to say they will vote for Hillary.

Dude, get the fuck outta here. Hardly anyone likes Hillary. If you think the way Trump is treated is the fault of anyone other than himself, then you're just blindly supporting anyone BUT Hillary.

Not voting for trump because of his petty spats with Ryan and McCain, or the banter with the puppet gold star family doesn't take into consideration a Trump loss means Hillary gets to appoint 4 supreme court justices, say goodbye to gun rights and let the onslaught of middle eastern refugees flood this country with planted terrorists in place just as dictated by ISIS. The supreme court justices alone should have people voting trump.

The Supreme Court is literally the only reason to vote for Trump because his supposed list is ok with Paul Ryan.

But even there I am already pissed at the Republicans for not considering a justice right now. They're just playing games instead of winning elections. Yeah so it sucks, the Court is going to move hard left for a generation, and Republicans are getting what they deserve. Stop trying to crush voting rights and instead appeal to minority voters. It's not that hard to show Mexicans some love.

You have said this or related in the last few posts. How do Libertarian leaning people feel about illegal immigration? Is it come one come all or is it enforce the laws until they can be changed properly?

True free market types believe in free movement of labor. It is a difficult issue because of the welfare state, and the vast differential in pay between the U.S. and Mexico. But generally I support large amounts of legal immigration especially in areas where the country lacks "skills". In the case of Mexican immigration, our country needs those workers to do jobs Americans are not willing to do.

If you make the guest worker program much larger, and you make the legal immigration system easier and quicker, you will get rid of a lot of illegal immigration. I do not support illegal immigration at all because people are breaking the law. But we can't deport 11M people. So they need a path to legal status.

Did I answer your question?

Is there any common decency anymore? So instead of intellectual arguments, vigorous debate, or polite disagreement, we should just pop off our opponents because they have different opinions than us? Way too much hate in this country and it all starts with travel sports!

Yes. I just wasn't fully understanding prior to that. Trump obviously is out there with statements especially building a wall the Mexican government will pay for but there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Basically I agree the system needs revamping. I do not like either side of the political spectrum abusing the current system though. I feel as if there is some automatic accusation of racism or bigotry when some tries to discuss the matter. I do not think you need to be full of hate or inhumane to tackle border issues.

PM, look at this way, what is the cause of illegal immigration:

1) There are jobs available here that no one really wants at wages that are attractive to immigrants.
2) The legal system does not let enough people in. If you had a robust guest worker program, many of the folks would do seasonal work- produce picking/landscaping, and then go back home. But since it is so risky to cross the border, folks have to stay once they get in. Thus you have a permanent illegal population.

Solution: Let folks come and go on work visas. For people that want to stay permanently, the system need to process those application quickly and have enough spots to meet demand.

If you're just a racist like a lot of right wingers, well then there's no helping you anyway. They probably hate the thought of even one Mexican or Chinese person coming to America let alone millions.

Yes, but on the one narrow issue, I'd be willing to roll the dice. The right knows it's screwed with HRC.

Hillary leans left of center on some social issues but she's center right or far right when it comes to most things.

They were different, but not as dramatically different as you suggest. Subtle suggestion at an assassination.

You're a fucking retard.

Next, we have a HUGE pool of unused labor covering low skill and high skill. The issue is those people won't work for table scraps and pats on the head.

A work visa program is a program to flood the alreadt full pool of labor to lower wages to slave level. Same with any expansion of the H1 program. It ain't skill it's cost. What's Disney doing with their IT staff?

"Come and Go" nope, sorry, I'd like borders because I want a nation and not a giant plantation for our corporate overlords.

Fuckhead.

President Obama was the deporter-in-chief his first term and he was still accused of supporting illegal immigration. They prefer to use this issue to score political points.

I agree with your two points. I just want a working solution that addresses those concerns as well as gets back to an enforceable border situation. For me, having people become guest workers or eventually citizens is far more attractive than millions of undocumented. And then we also have other people besides Latins here overstaying visa etc.

Hypothetically, what do you think the landscape would look like if all those jobs no one wants to do paid Brick's livable wage? Would there be as much demand for immigration legal or not? We as consumers demanding low prices and companies wanting cheap labor contribute to the mess.

President Obama was the deporter-in-chief his first term and he was still accused of supporting illegal immigration. They prefer to use this issue to score political points.

Under Obama the the definition of "Deportation" differed greatly from the traditional definition. He wasn't "Deporter" in chief. This has been covered on this board in the past.

People hate Hillary so much they won't have a problem with this.

You do realize that Hillary did pretty much the same thing in '08 right?

She didn't. Her comments about Robert Kennedy were no where close to this. Were they ignorant? Sure.

They were different, but not as dramatically different as you suggest. Subtle suggestion at an assassination.

"Anything could happen" is completely different than "You're going to have to shoot her to stop her". He's opening suggesting that someone should shoot her.

I would agree if that's what was actually said.
