Do you think the people sneaking over the border are leaving a great life with a great job? Or are they living in poverty, and spending their life's savings, and taking many risks, to get to this country?

Education isn't a priority in Mexico, so I can say with confidence that my 24 years of experience trumps a guy who never attended school. Or maybe you just look down on what I do?

You may want to change your profession. You could make a great deal of money painting with that broad brush.
Juan could probably do it cheaper and better than you, however.

That's just dumb. You have really lost your fastball.

Like I said, the next time you need home renovations, you should hire an illegal immigrant. I'm sure everything will be fine.

I've never relied on my fastball. I'm more of an off speed kinda guy.
Your 25 years of HVAC experience has sure taught you how to talk in circles.

Why do you hate immigrants?

This isn't about "be better at your job" or "talent" or whatever, it's about the SUPPLY of labor, plain and simple. As long as there is an over supply there will be lower wages and benefits offered. Those "displaced" will have to take a much lower salary or find time as a 1099...this is the plight of the American STEM worker, of course. Jobs on the lower tier will see their waves smashed even more brutally.

Funny how some of the most "Liberal" "Pro-Worker/Union" people on here take the the "FUCK YOU TOO BAD" stance once this sort of thing is tied to Trump/Conservatives.

I guess "Right to Work" states had if RIGHT all along.

Either way, you had a good run. Time to hang up the cleats.

That doesn't make any sense. It might be your worst post in this exchange.

That's quite a leap from what I said, if indeed you were responding to me. I'm not supporting the non-stop flow of immigrants from Mexico. I just think the whole "they're taking our jobs" mentality should be reined in a bit. It's Juan the landscaper, cook, or dishwasher, not Juan, the CEO of Citibank.

I'm only going on what you've posted thus far. It's readily apparent, you think those 'south of the border types' are inferior to you.

Why is that?

Please quote my post where I said 'south of the border types' were inferior to me. Can you at least respond to what I am actually saying? I don't think that's too much to ask.

Thanks in advance.

He is talking about the "right to work" vs unions. That's a blue collar issue.

Again, I am speaking from my experience. Unlike some, I am not an expert on everything.

I'm responding to what you posted. I reckon you're just not able to read from your high horse.

You need a plumber, cause you're full of more shit than a backed up sewer. I have no doubt you'll only employ someone without an ethnic name to auger it out.

How the hell would you know? You weren't even born yet.

I have tried several times to get you to respond to what I actually said, but it doesn't appear that it is going to happen. You've put words in my mouth, insulted me, and for some reason, took shots at BRick. As you said, it's all there for everyone to read.

Make sure you get back to us when you hire an illegal immigrant to fix your air conditioner, or put an addition on your house.

My initial post was laughing at Americans whining about Mexicans stealing their jobs, but somehow you spin it into I hate Mexicans. You really are an idiot.

You are Tom Seaver with the White Sox. I saw that, so I guess I can comment on it. Grab some bench.

Let us know when you hire some illegals to work on your house.

Someguy, if their education isn't created equal, then what do you have to worry about? Look at this, a nation of immigrants scared of new immigrants. It's the same story throughout our history where people were scared of Germans, then Irish, then Italians and so on. And yet we grew to become the largest economy by a mile, with one of the lowest unemployment rates over a business cycle, and a global powerhouse in terms of our major corporations.

But you win. Close it all down and turn into Japan. Stagnant, aging, inward looking, and mired in a perpetual malaise.

You're being very silly here and completely missing the point.

And we aren't a nation of immigrants anymore, we are a nation of Americans.

Exactly. It's also an artificial shortage created by the higher ups at these companies so they can cut costs and get bigger bonuses with government approval since all of these workers have to be granted access by our government.

Since Chus mentioned how these workers should just stop sucking at their jobs so much I'll use an example that would be close to his situation. Let's say he is a high paid welder(I have no idea if he is or not). His company is currently employing enough welders to get all of their jobs done and done well. However, the CEO suddenly says that they simply cannot find good welders even though they get many resumes for qualified people and that they need to be able to import workers from other countries. The government says "Oh no, this is terrible, we will help you" and they grant them four workers. These workers also just so happen to be able to work for 4x less with no leverage because the company can send them back home. They are not as good as the current welders but that solution is simple. You "promote" Chus as team leader and then his job is to sit there all day and tell them what work they did sucked so they have to redo it or they just let it go down to the minimum standards. They then "lay off" two coworkers because suddenly they don't have enough work. So, they've gone from three American born workers who were getting the job done to one American born worker and four foreign workers who combined make what one American worker does meaning they have effectively saved one American level salary and our government basically says "Cool, glad we could help".

I'm going to guess the welders union wouldn't say "Well, get better at your job". There are levels in any work where you can't perform well enough to overcome someone who is willing to work for so much less. We all think we are good at our jobs but realistically everyone is replaceable. The key is to have our government stop giving incentives to our companies to do so.

Ok I am back and rested. I enjoyed the Cubs, Sox and gold medals last night. I even got a few LoL games in with my son.

First, some great points on Stem from the following. The biggest take away is the pay and needs for employees in these fields.

It comes from this site:

Next, let me make a few additional points:

1) We educate a lot of foreigners in science and engineering fields. As a BioChem grad, I recall about 75% of the students in my 400 level classes being foreign at UIC, and this was back in the mid-90's. Every grad teaching assistant was foreign. Why would we educate these future PhD's and kick them out of the country? Effectively, we educate them, and they create research in their home countries. Britain does the same thing. Here's the numbers on foreigners in these fields.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-ameri ... ca-n378521 (see graphic in that article, wow).

2) Any high skilled immigrant should be welcome. Economics is not a zero sum game. Sure in individual situations there is a winner and loser, but in the aggregate, having smart and creative people will ultimately create jobs and the size of the pie. Immigrants have started over 50% of our largest start-ups. I want them here, not in China.

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2016/03/17/ ... -startups/

3) The U.S. is widely admired for its leadership in Internet and Biotech start-ups. We have world leading companies that dominate their industries and create lots of high paying jobs. Why cede that advantage because we're worried about immigrants taking U.S. workers jobs? That's as narrow minded as banning people from Milwaukee from coming to work in Chicago.

4) As we look forward, which countries will have the lead on R&D in critical fields. Well, this graphic might scare you. We better import what we can't train lest we be left behind 20 or 30 years out.
