The 13 year old Blaming the judge for stealing her childhood. Sorry kid that was all your old mans doing. He deserves every second of his sentence. You are lucky that Patty isn't in the clink as she had to know everything going on and her ghost payroll job with Rezko. Throw Denny Hasert in the cell with him 8) 8) just for good measure.

My guess is he gets pardoned this January by Obama.

I'm gonna say that's not likely. There's no win in there for Obama. And I don't think the two of them were ever particularly friendly anyway.

But there's no doubt that sentence is unduly harsh. Blago is the only guy who ever got 14 years for threatening to take a bribe. It's really crazy when you consider that Richie Daley is walking around free. But Blago is a fucking dumbass. He has no one to blame but himself. To think that the Mell crew once thought this guy could be president. One of Mell's longtime precinct captains told me Rod was gonna to be president because he had "presidential hair". The real irony is that I would vote for Blago over Trump or Hillary. Even while he is in a jail cell.

14 years for trying to wheel and deal a Senate Seat?

It's nuts.Let the guy go home to his family. He could make a fortune as a spokesman for "Just for Men" hair coloring.

It does seem a bit harsh. Judge could have let him go home. As far as I know he has no future in politics and doesn't have any meaningful windfall hidden from his crime.

That is the biggest kick in the ass. Its like somebody decided to make a statement out of "catching" Blago when in reality Daley fucked this city and this state over MANY more times than ol' Rod did.

Blago certainly deserved some jail time and hefty fines. I don't think he should have gotten 14 years.

Problem is he was caught on tape trying to sell a Senate seat and that don't sit well (how many hanleys?) with a public sick of corruption in this state.

I mean we heard his very voice trying to get bribes. They actually had to grab this guy before he could do it. That's fucked up.

Add his arrogance and his less than willing attitude to show contrition or apologize for his actions and you get a sentence that sticks.

Does it suck he's getting 14 years away from his family? Sure. But if he didn't have this thing and it's you know fucking golden on tape he'd have been just fine and wouldn't be in jail.

I'm all for mercy and leniency but this guy is a crook and now wants to go home but he still needs to pay for his crimes. Fuck Blagojevich.

If you remember, there was some sort of mistrial or something where the US Attorney had him sentenced for a good number of years but Fitzgerald decided to pile on wasting even more taxpayer money with a second trial rather than just sticking him with the sentence.

That Judge Zagel is a show horse. He loves to get his name in the papers. There was no way he was going to reduce that sentence.

I have a hard time douche bagging a child who lashes out with cameras in her face the moment after a stressful situation. Teenagers learn responsibility, it doesn't come naturally to them.

Can't blame his daughters for trying to spring their dad, Blago is not even half as dirty as Madigan or Daley or Burke.

Shame on Patty for parading the kids in front of the judge. They should have been no where near that court room yesterday.

You could kill somebody, and do less than fourteen years.

George Ryan only served five years. Blago's crimes didn't result in any deaths, like the children from the Willis family.

I'm not trying to defend Blago. He is obviously a lunatic and a sociopath, but fourteen years is ridiculous. Congressmen take money for special favors all the time, yet that seems to be acceptable.

Agreed. Rather than the government paying to house him for 14 years (I cannot imagine what that must cost), let him stay home under house arrest.

What does the next President of the United States deserve?

In the email, Band tells Hillary Clinton's former aides at the department -- Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin -- that it is "important to take care of (redacted)." Band is reassured by Abedin that "Personnel has been sending him options."

That same year, he pushed for State to give high-level access to Clinton Foundation donor Gilbert Chagoury, a Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire. Noting that Chagoury is a “key guy there [in Lebanon] and to us,” he tells Mills and Abedin to connect the donor with State’s “substance person” on Lebanon.

Abedin supplies the name: “its jeff feltman,” the US ambassador to Lebanon and later assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern Affairs. And, she says, “Ill talk to jeff.”

Band doesn’t let go: “Better if you call him. Now preferable. This is very important. He’s awake I’m sure.”

Chagoury has a murky past: In a 2000 plea deal on Swiss money-laundering charges, he repaid $66 million to the Nigerian government. But, hey, he also gave at least $1 million to the foundation and pledged a cool $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative.

The e-mails show other “employment opportunities”: Big-time Clinton fundraiser Lana Moresky asked Clinton to arrange another hire at State. The secretary told Abedin to follow up and “help” the applicant — and to “let me know” how the job hunt ended.

Exactly. He held the highest office in the State and used it to solicit bribes.

Also, his 14 years is for him and his bitch wife. No doubt they didn't go after her once he got that sentence.

She is probably an easy get and possibly would. Her wiki says she is "friends" with John Salley though. Not sure why they mention that.

If they have her on tape, with Bill in the background, doing the deal, she would be in prison, too.

Wikileaks may have something to that effect.

This is an interesting take considering he never actually received a bribe for the Senate seat or for the racetrack legislation. If done in a different way, what Blago did is just politics. That's for everyone who whines about "gridlock". All politics actually is is exchanging bribes. Blago and Chris Kelly were just brazen. They were simply more honest and straight forward with their pay-to-play tactics. Bill Cellini made his career with pay-to-play but he was taken aback at how direct Kelly was in connecting the money to the favor.

Without such a tape, you cannot connect Hillary directly to the act. Blago was connected directly.

These emails are between staffers, not her. I'm sure you have seen enough movies about the Mafia to know how that works.

I'm not spinning anything. I have no problem with Blago going to jail, but he's a pretty insignificant guy to make an example of with such a harsh sentence for typical politics.

Blagojevich was a political lightweight. And once he lost his father-in-law he was working without a net. That's why he's sitting in prison right now. Not because he did the same shit every politician, including the next president, has done.
