They've stated publicly and privately that for him to make it back to the majors, he would need to go to the I-Cubs to get game action in. So he will either cave or he will retire. If he retires, the Cubs owe nothing. If he falls in line, the Cubs have a decent left-handed bat, pinch hitter and backup infielder...and can retain organizational depth or work a trade to improve something else.

Maybe you'd feel differently if La Stella told the Cubs his child died in order to get some away time?
