For those that might not have heard/seen it, pardon my quoting myself paraphrasing Jesse Rogers from last nite ...

Don Tiny wrote:
So some more on this wacko LaStella situation, per Jesse Rogers ...

Mr. Eloquent referred to LaStella several times as a 'different cat', and said that Tommy's gotten real into Buddhism & Eastern Philosophy and the like. Baseball is becoming increasingly unimportant to him and that if he plays baseball, it's apparently only going to be for the Cubs (else, I guess, he'd retire ... which he considered before the season started). Part of the reason he didn't go to AAA was b/c he didn't want to end his career by getting injured there.

So ... yeah. This guy needs to be launched to Mars or something.

A left handed bat will be have to be acquired then.

You can't go into the post-season with Coghlan as your primary left handed bat off the bench. You just can't.

don't worry, Kyle is coming back.

If there was ever a time the boys in blue could use that big, strong, meaty stick of Schwarber's, in about one month would be the time. The pom poms look great on him in the dugout and all, but I'd trade them in for a couple October swings.

There is only one Kyle this team needs, and he might win the Cy Young.

Who is 'Hendricks'? Let's try 'Future All Stars' again for 400, Alex.

Technically the Cubs kept both.

My point being Coghlan should have been released from the major league roster.

The great Theo probably could not have gotten Coghlan in a waiver deal after 7/31.

He is obviously a replaceable part. Why don't they cut him?

There are waves and waves of middle infield talent yet the organization is kvetching over a career AAAA 2B who has been on hot streak that is unlikely to continue into the October season they are playing for.

They can't cut him until they actually replace him. Because if Coughlin breaks his leg tonight, they're going to have to call him up.

But I don't see him on a playoff roster, unless guys like Szcuzur and Grimm get to punch him in the face as a condition.

Why would you cut him? He is a controllable asset making the minimum...through 2021 counting arbitration years.

Controllable assets are on the roster and obey the club policies of being sent down to AAA. Fuck this turd. Cut him.

Dumb. Organizations don't retain their strength by making dumb moves "just because."

Yeah. The great Tommy La Stella. Screw this turd. He is such a big piece of the action he has not been missed one bit since gone. Yep I would cater to his every need. No.

How are they catering to him? The Cubs control the situation.

They've stated publicly and privately that for him to make it back to the majors, he would need to go to the I-Cubs to get game action in. So he will either cave or he will retire. If he retires, the Cubs owe nothing. If he falls in line, the Cubs have a decent left-handed bat, pinch hitter and backup infielder...and can retain organizational depth or work a trade to improve something else.

Maybe you'd feel differently if La Stella told the Cubs his child died in order to get some away time?

As I said scholar cut him. The money does not matter. Decent players are all over. Winners produce and do what is asked of them. La Stella is a guy. Done with this stupid conversation that you cannot understand or do not want to.

Decent players are all over? Shit...if only the Twins or Braves knew that!

You're a fucking homer. The Cubs brass knows what to do 100x more than you do. Hell, even 1.5x more than I do.

Tommy is doing what he is allowed to do just like the Cubs did what they were allowed to do with Bryant. I don't get why people are mad at Tommy. Everyone seems to think it was an undeserved demotion.

Also, an adult man should not be called Tommy.
