They just said there is a lot of back channel discussions to sell the White Sox and then build a stadium near the Loop.

So there is the light at the end of the tunnel IMU!

you motherfucker! this thread title literally got me to get up and turn on the radio out here just because i thought terry was back, but then i saw your "sike" thing which actually is its own issue in and of itself.

isn't the actual term/word here "psych!" as in you got "psyched out" by the man who football playoff victories have forgot?

(speaking of redskins playoff futility/lulz, i still rue the day i didn't call up who ya crappin to crap ex-bear philip daniels for saying nothing. you see during that year where sean taylor was shot and killed the redskins were on the playoff bubble all the way til week 17, where they had to win to get in and they ended up winning by 21pts to get in and hey whaddya know sean taylor wore jersey #21. philip daniels spoke of that coincidence and said "YOU THINK THAT'S AN ACCIDENT?!?!"

so of course philip daniels said nothing when the redskins lost by 21 in the first/wild-card round of the playoffs... hey philip YOU THINK THAT'S AN ACCIDENT?!?!!

/me certainly hopes that this story gets better and better with each re-telling cuz i've no doubt told it ~5-10 times here on the C/S/FMB 8) )

Where would this go? Closest land I see to the Loop is at Harrison/Wells, and that looks like a tight squeeze. I don't think there's any reason to replace Comiskey. It's 25 years old with a great deal of recent renovations. It has extensive parking, two L lines, and a Metra line to Beverly and the south suburbs.

Michael Reese Hospital is my guess.

Wins ... championships ... obviously TWTW ... the winner is clear.

In reality, Lovie was a phenomenal player's head coach, particularly when it came to relationships and preparation.

When it came to the game itself, including choosing assistants, he was maybe a step above abysmal ... I should need say nothing to defend that, but if I must, all that is necessary is to say "timeouts" and, if you like, "coach's challenge", and that should be sufficient reminder ... that said, I suspect that, somewhere, the ghost of Dougie still mutters "halftime adjustments" to nobody in particular.

Don't let numbers get in the way Don.

It wasn't exactly a prediction.

What I've heard is that it would go near the new DePaul Stadium by McCormick Place.

The "Old Sportswriter" bit has gone from annoying to uncomfortably awkward. You can hear Bernstein cringe every time Rozner breaks it out.

Do we really need 2 stadiums next to each other that nobody will want to attend?

There was a time when no one wanted to attend Cubs games either.

That old massive hunk of old Illinois Central property near 1st district HQ just E of the river would be pretty alluring. City really wants to develop that disgusting, toxic river and it'd help stave off the inevitable bursting of the south loop real estate bubble.

Never going to understand the manufactured twitter outrage over mentioning an unknown trap shooter who won a bronze medal, and was mentioned to be the wife of a guy playing for the Bears, because that is her only tie to Chicago.

Being a politically moderate person at this point in time is an awfully lonely feeling.

Are they mad because she should be recognized for being a successful woman and not have her identity linked to a...man?

I doubt she is being recognized much at all outside of Chicago, and when she is recognized here and her football-playing hubby is mentioned it's certainly not in an effort to diminish her in any way.

Schaumburg within 10-15 years. Near the woodfield mall and I290/I90 and Rt. 53. Say bye bye to a majority of Busse Woods.

hey wait, aren't there some "friends of the lakefront" or "friends of the parks" or whatever who would take umbrage to building stuff by >MUH LAKEFRONT?!?!

if "we" can't have a star wars prop repository in that general area then you'd figure that "we" sure as shit can't have a new white sox stadium by the lakefront to replace that old mausoleum built way back in the bygone era of 1993...

...altho in fairness IIRC new comiskey was built right b4 camden yards came about and made "nu-retro" ballparks the new trendy idea and therefore new comiskey ended up being one of the last "new space age ballparks!" b4 you'd end up with much nicer ones like, say, PNC Park in pittsburgh (who i don't think i've ever heard anyone say a bad thing about, and they even filmed a pretty decent chunk of a taylor lautner vehicle of an action film there =)

Moving further west would be a great idea for any of the major sports franchises in Chicago (except maybe the Cubs)... So many fans from the outer suburbs would be more willing to attend games, and the city people would still find a way to be there. I'd like to see it in my lifetime.

Really? I guess I still have memories of the Score telling me what a great park it is. I mean, those concession stands!

A park built at great public cost 25 years ago shouldn't be replaced at public cost, and I don't think anyone's paying a billion out of pocket to build a new park for the Sox.

I'd never heard that clip of Bowen inviting Dan over to his place with the guys and Dan saying he'd bring a bottle of wine. Look, I understand that traditional gender roles have changed, but could Dan just try not to be so feminine all the time? Was glad to hear Bowen call him out on it.

It will take years to acquire land and build a stadium. That does not even include the time it would take to acquire the team.

Even if it took 5 years though a 30 year old stadium isn't obsolete and the stadium deal is incredibly favorable to ownership. The current stadium is an ASSET to a prospective purchaser not a liability
