select?

My god were they bad last night. First preseason game, yes, but still an embarrassment. So, who will they blow the #1 pick on in next year's draft?

Listen I get it, but the amount of talent added with this GM imo, is really good. Plus transitioning to a 3-4 is going to take a couple drafts to fill it out.

i can pretty much break out into a les grobstein voice/impression when i say "only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and the bears not picking #1 overall in the NFL draft" --- IT'S. NEVER. HAPPENED. (srsly i know at least a few ppl here heard les' voice in their head saying that last bit) cuz yeah the closest they got i think was the terry bradshaw draft where there was a coinflip between the bears and the steelers and the steelers got #1/bradshaw and the bears? yeap. they were definitely the bears.

also didn't the 1985 bears go something like 1-3 or 0-4 in the preseason? #TheMoreYouKnow!

Defense been decent, losing McFee hurt but the defense been better than the offense and special teams. Fangio can coach, fox can't.

Well, if Floyd is a representation of the 'talent' they're gonna be drafting for this 3-4.. you might not wanna bank on it taking only a 'couple' of drafts. Just saying.

He's a little better.

In a far, far better sense.

Dolphins offense looked better under Gase last night. Looking like a positive hire in Miami.

Floyd's performance thus far has generated positive comments from opposing scouts and the media. We'll see how he develops. Personally, I liked the pick.

I thought it was a reach when it happened, but I hope it works out. I just hope his 1st pick from last year does well.

Whoever replaces Pace will be told to draft a QB.

You mean the 1 pre season game he didnt do anything in? I know that can be used against me not liking him to some varying degree as well being that we haven't seen enough -but I didn't like him in the draft either.

Look, as a fan I'm happy to be wrong about this stuff because it helps the team I cheer for if he turns out to be good. But I don't think I'm wrong on this one tbh. We'll see.

Out of curiosity, what did you like about him as the pick considering what was on the board at the time he was selected? This pick comes across to me as a classic Bears 'smartest guy in the room pick'.

Why would he be replaced anytime soon? He is doing a pretty good job of acquiring talent. He is in a rock and a hard place with the QB situation.

He's done ok in FA, but I'm not sure where you're going with the talent side of this. It's early in his drafts but so far they all look pretty mediocre. This team is really bland when it comes to talent imo, theres no one outside of maybe Alshon and Long that really jump out in that dept (and Pace inherited those two)

This team kinda reminds me of the Wannstedt teams, just kind of meh all around.

Has he really done a good job of anything so far? It's still too early to say he has done a bad job but so far the results have been pretty average with a team that looks like it has no real plan.

Are you looking for sexy picks? If White does something, that draft is a win. I thought this draft was good at the beginning and dropped off drafting 5 safetys.

It is too early. I don't think you can judge a guy after 2 drafts.

I think we have to let them at least play out this year to see how his acquisitions perform. Also need to see if Floyd/White are any good. More questions than answers for Pace at this point. The only fact I know at this point is it is a miserable way to travel in the suburbs.

I think Pace has done a pretty good job, so far. Has been able to bring in a respectable coaching staff. Has been able to bring in FA at positions of need for good prices. Has drafted better than the Bears are used to (but jury is still out on 1st round picks).

I think Pace's biggest hurdle when he got here was the old and/or bad contracts still on the books. He also has yet to deal with the Cutler situation, but I think he is waiting to do anything until he has a real viable alternative (which is smart).

I knew Phil Emery was an idiot after 2 drafts. Pretty sure most people did.

No. I'm looking for common sense picks in the 1st round that can come in right away and start for the team. Not tweeners who had no true position in college that never made an impact at that level to warrant taking a flyer on them so high in the draft. Floyd is a dumb pick from that perspective.
