Today on ESPN!

Steve Piscotty is clutch!

Steve Piscotty and the Cardinals are ready to finish the season strong!

Bryce Harper is back!

Mookie Betts is like Ted Williams!

Where is Alex Rodriguez going!

Or... The. Same. Fucking. Bullshit. As. Usual.

You're wrong about this Hoffy. The media just spent the last two weeks showering the Cubs in compliments.

Its been better, but its just funny how ESPN's narrative is so ridiculous. First, Bryce Harper is currently hitting .234 in 453 plate appearances. That's not too far from a guy by the name of Jason Heyward. Sorry, I just like to get my Heyward digs in as often as possible. Now, I know the guy is an MVP candidate, but give me a break already. Murphy and Bryant deserve far more praise Next, the A-Rod thing has been insanely stupid now for over a week. Finally, reading the results from last night's game, you would think that no one watched the Wainwright implode two days before. I think Piscotty is a good player, but let's hold off on making him the next Babe Ruth.

Ruin your daughter's life by spending more time with her and less watching ESPN.

I'm glad you are able to release these crazy thoughts on us when you have them rather than general public where people would judge you. Cubs are media darlings and have been for your entire life.

Counter-point: ESPN has had the Cubs ranked #1 in Power Rankings in 16 of the 18 weeks, including pre-season.

Harper has an OPS of .815. Heyward is at .622.

Please don't be a homer.

Being wrong twice out of 18 isn't too bad.

Power rankings are crap. Its how they do their programming and structure their website. Look on the MLB site right now. The top stories are:

1) A-Rod to Marlins talk. WHO THE FUCK CARES. NO ONE watches Marlins baseball. And A-Roid is a cheating asshole.
2) Power rankings blow job on Seattle moving up in the wild card. The Cubs went on an 11 game winning streak. Again, no one fucking cares about Seattle.
3) The Cubs "confidence meter". Sure, 79% of people are convinced that the Cubs will win it all. This should be the top story.
4) Next, Buster Olney blows Adam Wainwright.

BTW, on the right side of the page, they talk about Seattle in the power rankings and they show a picture of Aroldis Chapman, who if you remember from my earlier post will be the reason why "The Cubs need to thank the Yankees for helping them win the World Series."

I'm not being a homer. I'm just taking the opportunity to make fun of Heyward. I really like Bryce Harper's game. He's not as good as Trout, but he is still up in the top 10 players in the league.

There are some parts of the MLB network I really enjoy. Even when the Cubs are consistently demoted to the second half of Quick Pitch, I love being able to hear the actual announcers for both teams. Its especially fun if there is a controversial play or big moment, such as hearing one of the Brennamans have a meltdown about Cubs fans.

I'm going to guess that Hoffy is also mad that the United States isn't covered enough with the Olympics.

Why, its as bad as ESPN and MLB Network's treatment of the Cubs?

There's a broad line between my homerisms and your homerisms.

Right now there are 10 stories there on the Cubs, 4 out of the top 6. Hoffy you can very easily make a long, long list of things that ESPN does that you can complain about.

Them not covering or praising the Cubs enough would come in around #800 on that list.

He's okay. Sometimes he says or does some pretty dumb things. For instance, I'm trying to figure out why he signs up to do a one-on-one with Prior. If I had his position, I'd say let someone else do it because its a useless story, but there he is. I think I more liked having him on WGN as an alternative to Murph.

Where are you going with this?

Two of those stories are about the Cubs are focused on players from East Coast teams, namely Chapman and Lackey. The first shines a pretty poor light on the Cubs. I can't read the Buster Olney story on Bryant because I'm not an ESPN insider, but I'll bet good money he mentions Bryce Harper in that article.

I think you can find out just how ridiculous ESPN is by seeing they have Jesse Rogers as the Cubs contributor.

shouldn't the national media's narrative now be that the Cubs actively promote domestic violence ?

Of Chapman's 364 MLB games, all but 31 of them have taken place while he played for an NLCentral team.

Learn geography.

Lackey pitched for the Red Sox. As did Lester, who was used in Rogers' article on how Lester would advocate for Papelbon, also a former Red Sox pitcher. That said, I can't really argue that Rogers would have east coast bias.

I will tell you this much my relationship with the Cubs mirrors the relationship between Ike Turner and Tina....every time I think they are going to turn it around and change and finally win something they push me down a flight of stairs and leave me battered. But I keep coming back for more. What's love got to do with it?
