I was listening to the Hawks game tonight, and I could have sworn Pappy and his lovely wife Bebe were getting a round chorus of boos - I even heard a "You Suck North!" in there too.

That's just wrong.

Decided to end a long, self-imposed exile to respond to this. (I know--you're happy for me.)

Why is it wrong?

He prides himself on "telling it like it is" and letting the rest of the world know what he thinks of them. Why can't we let him know what we think of him?

It doesn't surprise me that he was booed. There is this myth, created by Pappy, that he is Mr. Chicago and is beloved. People don't like him. The only person that speaks highly of Pappy is Pappy.

He's a loud mouth, stupid jerk that makes no sense.

He surrounds himself with Jen Jens, Freds, and Rocks. People who are either indebted to him or have no spine. There purpose is to worship him, be his yes man, and tell him how great he is.

If you don't kiss his ass he'll have you fired and you become the scapegoat for his radio failures. It's really that simple. He's not successful at radio. Never has been. He got killed again by M&M in the last book. He's lost like 13 of 14 ratings books to them.

Welcome back Pappy's Crappy.

I was at the game and, yes, he was roundly booed. A friend of mine mentioned he was surprised at the reception Mike got. Mike's wife joined him for the puck drop.

During the first intermission there was Mike talking about the Hawks on the jumbotron, most people didn't seem to care.

I also saw Jen and Fred after the game with a few other people. I didn't see Mike.

The highlight of the game, other than the Hawks 6-1 victory, was the fight in the crowd during the third period. Two guys went at it, a bunch of punches were thrown, one guy fell down about 5 rows injuring another fan. Security seemed pretty slow to react. The entire crowd was fixated on the fight at one point.

Once the fight was over and the combatants sent away plastic bags were put over some seats, must have been some blood. Fun night.

His shitty ratings don't matter because, "Da ratings is flawed."

Getting booed in public doesn't matter because, "Dey would have booed anybody. Dey would have booed da Pope."

His ethnic slurs don't matter because, "I grew up on da streets and dat's da way we talked back in da day."

I'll say this for him--he should be a spokesman for a political candidate because no one can do "spin control" like a Mike North.

Ahh, good to be back spewing venom at my favorite target!

I guess the point of Pappy's little radio show is to aggravate half of his listeners and put smiles on the face of half his listeners.

So if he was getting some boos last night, I guess he's doing his job.

Personally, between the Telander stuff, coupled with his grilling of Pax, I think Mike's on his game in '08. Let's see if he can keep it going for 50 more weeks. ;)

Based on the ratings, which Grid is the half of 1? :-)

You know what? What's fair is fair. The Paxson interview was good. North basicially turned the usually composed and articulate GM into a stammering, stuttering mess--and rightfully so, considering the state of the Bulls.

On the other hand, regarding the Telander stuff--anyone who spent a good part of the summer doing a feature called "HGH Player of the Day," where he pretty much threw out random accusations of drug use on the air against players just based on his own observation and intuition and no evidence, probably shouldn't get too bent out of shape by what Telander wrote.

I didn't listen to Thursday's show. Did Mike mention the reaction of the crowd?

Yes, when he wasn't too busy licking Rocky Wirtz's crack.

I guess Verne was in the house.

Or perhaps one of our board member's posse:

North isn't an award winning JOURNALIST. He's a talk show host, that is supposed to entertain. Here in lies the difference. Telander talks out both ends. He can't do one thing one year, and another the next year. Pull his HOF vote if he's not going to take it seriously.

Since North got to drop the puck last night, he gave the Black Hawks organization his kudos of the day. Guess part of the deal was that he keeps talking nice about the organization.

I thought North was the stuttering, stammering mass. Paxson just appeared that way since Mike kept cutting him off mid-sentence.

All things said, people are still talking about North's run-in with Telander and 'inquisition' of Pax.

What's your point?
Mike is still considered a goof -- or maybe those weren't boos last night. They were saying Boo Urns.

If I was on the radio and kept asking Paxson questions like 'Why did you draft him , if you knew he was like this?"

Which basically Pax is not going to say 'well Mike I knew he was different, but I didn't realize he ws such a putz?"

North's self proclaimed interviewing skills are nothing more than asking questions that are not going to be answered.

all I kept hearing was that the B-Hawks were honoring Mike North as a Radio Legend & that it was "Mike North" night...yadda, yadda...

The I find out Steve Dahl was honored too. I heard Dahl mention that...but not North. Then again, the MNMS gets very little of my attention so maybe I missed it.

All I know is that North is sucking major Blackhawk cock these days. Now I know why.
