100% serious. He has dominated them in multiple threads.

Yeah, that's not true at all. He's arguing that the NL is better than the AL based on one single team's W/L splits vs both leagues, with those splits having an enormous disparity in sample size. It's ok to rise above the Cub/Sox shit once in awhile :thumleft:

I did not argue that. I pointed out the lunacy of JORR stating that the Cubs would have a much worse record if they played in the AL, and that their statistics are inflated because they play in the National League. The Cubs have performed BETTER against AL opponents than they have against NL opponents.

edit: typos

That's not relevant though, unless you're willing to also say that you think a 17 game sample size is predictive.

I have one piece of evidence, sample size notwithstanding, that shows the Cubs would have great success versus the AL.

You have no piece of evidence of any sample size that shows the Cubs would fare poorly against the AL.

So while I'm not predicting the Cubs would win ~75% of their games against the AL over 162...I can tell you how I feel about the AL overall: not impressed.

There are 30 baseball teams. The Cubs are better than 29 of them. Significantly better than 25 or so.

Who gives a shit how you feel? The leagues have played MANY games against eachother. The record speaks for itself. There's no analysis really needed here.

Again...this argument is not about AL versus NL (there is another thread for that) ...unless you really did put weight into my facetious comment some hours ago. This argument was Cubs versus AL. If you want to change that argument, discuss it with JORR as he brought it up. And then find someone else that would actually participate in it.

So this is the part where you realize it was ridiculous to question which league is better collectively, so you backtrack and call the comment facetious? I'm alright with that.

You just can't stop making shit up, can you? I didn't bring that up. I said the Cub starters get to pad their numbers vs. the Reds and Brewers and you figuratively stuck your chest out loaded with your thumping Cubbie heart and asked to "be reminded" of the Cubs record vs. the AL, as if beating the shit out of the Angels is a big accomplishment.

Go check the Power Shift thread. In May I thought the leagues were balanced...I thought the NL might pull ahead. I admitted months ago that the AL was all around better than the entirety of the NL. If you didn't recognize the comment as facetious based on my numerous other posts on the topic, that is on you.

But the Cubs are the best team in baseball...and I'm sure they would enjoy beating up on the Twins, A's and Angels if they played in the AL.

 They already have beat up on the A's and Angels. It's in their record!

JORR's original argument was that the AL was better and the Cubs wouldn't fare as well. You argued that pretty persistently. Now you're saying the AL is indeed better than the NL. What's the problem here?

The Reds and Brewers are 19th (523) and 24th (483) in runs scored. The bottom teams in the AL Central are 26th (479) and 27th (470) in runs scored. So if the Cubs played in the AL Central, I actually think they'd be padding their numbers even further.

Has IMU done his "I HAVENT BEEN WRONG ABOUT ANYTHING SINCE BRETT JACKSON" bit yet? That's when you know he's starting to get a little up in it.

For as bad as the Brett Jackson predictions were...to be 100% correct ever since is very impressive. Thank you for bringing that up again, America. My 2016 dominance has almost been as complete as the 2016 Cubs' dominance.

Are we discounting the fact that you used the "ever since" rational to justify getting my hopes up about the 2016 White Sox playoff chances?

I told you they had a chance. That was correct; they had one.

And then Kenny picked up James Shields and picked guys like Jacob Turner over Mat Latos.

Those aren't moves I would have made...

This was like a month or two ago. Latos was far removed from the conversation. You said they would still finish above .500 and would be in the wildcard race until the end of the season. It's ok to admit you were off on one prediction.

This is the kind of "I was right at the time!" rationalizing that has pervaded modernity. IMU's narcissistic weirdness is enabled by a culture that tells those who are wrong that, as long as they were wrong for the right reasons, they were actually right all along.

I don't believe it would have been after the James Shield acquisition. Was that 2 months ago? Probably about that.

They still may finish over .500. I don't think they are in the Wild Card any longer.
