LOCK HIM UP!

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/291680-report-manafort-helped-ukraine-party-pay-us-lobbyists

Citing unidentified sources with knowledge of the effort, the AP reported that the $2.2 million in payments was concealed in order to mask the party’s efforts to influence U.S. lawmakers. Lobbyists in the U.S. are required by law to register as foreign agents if they receive funding from other nations’ leaders.

Under federal law, U.S. lobbyists must declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders or their political parties and provide detailed reports about their actions to the Justice Department. A violation is a felony and can result in up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

You talk about crooked ... this guy's more crooked than a broken dick ... and I fully believe Trump is a simpleton patsy in this ... I see no reason to afford him any accommodation as to being in on the gag, so to speak.

Trump hired a white supremacist as his campaign CEO and no one is really talking about it.

Well considering the last campaign CEO was in hoc to Putin because of shady Ukraine deals it's pretty much par for the course at this point.

Trump seemed to make his first real attempt to act like a normal politician yesterday and be slightly more humble. If he does well in the debates, which I think is a real possibility, this could at least be a close election. I think Hillary's strategy of just letting Trump implode upon himself has been sound up until now. But political momentum can turn on a dime, and she carries so much baggage that her disillusioned votes may stay home on election day.

Scary choices for America.

She has to make the case at some point. Running out the clock and being the default choice can get her elected but she has to counter the trustworthy argument by demonstrating that she can be President. She actually should simply just concede the point on that. She isn't going to change the opinion of people that don't trust her. My contention is that it isn't a prerequisite for being President.

They always have handled her wrong. For some odd reason they have never wanted to expose her to scrutiny. She does few interviews and press conferences. To me when she is exposed to the media she really doesn't perform that badly. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that understands policy to the degree that she does. That is what I am most concerned about. The thought of a neophyte being elected President is concerning. We just had 16 years of that.

You don't put a client on the stand if you know they can't handle it and/or you know they are guilty as hell. Her handlers know exactly what they are doing. The few times they do let her do it, they have the situation completely controlled. They control the media at those events as evidenced by the DNC emails.

Refusing to put her on the stand has been detrimental. In the case of Benghazi she was already tried sort to speak. The Email "scandal" has also withstood an investigation. There isn't much to fear at this late date from those two incidents.

She has to start making the case as to why she is the best person to be President. Trump is such a terrible candidate and thus it might not be necessary. I just feel that it is always better for people to vote for you as opposed to simply being against the other guy.

Clinton's camp has let "scandals" linger. She's on a win by default path, and deservedly so. But Trump might expose her in the three debates. He doesn't play by traditional rules, so he is a huge wild card. He defeated a wide collection of Republicans all of whom were more qualified than him based on their experience and temperament alone.

And since Clinton does not really inspire people, there is a good shot that turnout will be low. Trump will get the angry vote for sure. Hillary can only count on people showing up to vote against Trump. Guys like me are voting for neither, so we're effectively a non-factor.

You are probably onto something. How can she be prepared for her team to counter Trump in a debate. Pols like her generally have some sort of cute or clever line for a list of potential criticisms. If you have no idea what the hell will come out of Trump how can she prep. If she freezes up at all or worse "short circuits" that may be very bad.

I am not defending Trump here at all. As a lifelong Republican, I have said Clinton is a safer, better choice for this country. Trump has a tone that is inappropriate for the highest office in the world.

So my thoughts are merely political observations. I honestly don't want either to win, but for the country's sake, I hope Clinton beats him. And for my own sake, I hope the Republicans learn from this disaster. However, as others have noted here, they did not learn from the Romney loss as they claimed they would.

I think the part about not being inspired is a media narrative that has been widely overblown.

She garnered more votes than Obama though he was considered by many to be the "inspirational" candidate. She beat Sanders by 4 million votes yet the energy and inspiration was supposedly all on his side.

The level of excitement is tempered by the fact that she has been in politics for about 40 yrs. National politics for 25. They can't package as the fresh new face because frankly she isn't.

Her supporters are truly representative of the silent majority. Of the 3 finalists she has received by far the least amount of attention. Sanders supporters and Trump supporters dominated a vast majority of the news cycle. Hillary's people are merely chugging along and come November they are going to show up en mass. Also being perceived as the inevitable candidate has hurt her in this regard too. This is at least 16 years in the making.

I think portions of the party did learn from the Romney debacle, but it was just drowned out by the sweeping Trump tide. I honestly don't know where the Republican's go from here. Seems to be a pretty clear divide from the moneyed Jeb! loving elite of the party that just cares about low tax rates and breaks for corporations and the unwashed masses of the party that are pissed off and want walls and loyalty tests for immigrants. I am not too sure those two groups are going to be able to come together anymore, but I am also not sure where else they would go.

They have to figure out how they want to handle the divisive elements in their party.

They also aren't going to win national elections by simply carrying the Southern States any longer.

Not to mention the demographics in some of those states Virginia, NC, Georgia are starting to get away from them anyways.

How can Trump wins a debate? By style points. It definitely won't be substance.
