I gave up my membership in the "Trump has no shot" club back during the primaries. I figured he'd be out around Super Tuesday. https://youtu.be/aXAU4MmMIMo

not sure I agree with Michael Moore that Trump's going to win.

and yet here he is. or there he is. out on the campaign trail. giving speeches to what appear to be sizable crowds. while Hillary's taking another 3 day weekend.

You can prepare for other things when you don't have to really campaign to win.

yeah, nytimes had a pretty good take-down article back during the primaries when Trump was trumpeting that his campaign was self-financed. They dug into his campaign's reporting and discovered Trump was basically:

(1) lending his campaign the money, with interest, they used to run the operation;

and then

(2) paying it back to himself by using his companies/vendors for every aspect of the campaign.

of course, all the loans will either be paid back to Trump via donations, or he'll simply ring up another BR.

There are some potential ethics violations with some of the stuff that he is doing. He is allegedly doing a lot of double dipping with his corporation and his campaign. He is using corporation stuff for the campaign and vice versa campaign stuff for the corporation. Don't think they will pursue it because it would be one big headache. Probably just want Trump to ride off in the sunset.

scuttleboat from some of the political podcasters is that Trump might be looking at firing up a TV network if/when he loses. Based partly on Trump bringing in the guy who started Fox News, Roger Ailes, and some guy from Breitbart to work on the campaign. 'Trump TV'? That'd be a riot.

I originally thought it was crazy but there may be something to it. Trump has been prone to try new ventures throughout his business career. I also can see him trying to big time Bloomberg by starting his own network. I could just see him telling the world that Bloomberg's channel is nothing compared to his.

shouldn't Trump being doing worse in the polls than this:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/

he's only down 3 or 4 and even up 2 in one of the national polls (that same LA Times/USC poll that has had Trump leading the entire time, even after her DNC bump, which is suspect). But overall, you'd expect Trump to be down double-digits, not nipping at her pantsuit legs.

Margin of error for these polls is usually 2 or 3 points. Hillary can't assume she has this one in the bag, esp given how out of whack the polls were during the primaries. It's gonna suck if Trump wins; in part cuz that would mean Michael Moore will have been right about something.

No because his floor is 40%. Trump's candidacy has very much validated the opinions of race hustlers like Jesse Jackson, AL Sharpton, and Black Lives Matters. It has also provided credence for race hustling intellectuals like Michael Eric Dyson, Cornel West, and Tavis Smiley.

His candidacy has demonstrated that racism is alive and well in this country. There is no way that a guy as bigoted as him should have ever gotten this far. Racism and bigotry were a signature of his campaign early on. He didn't try and camouflage it at all. It should have been an immediate disqualifier and the fact that it wasn't is really quite telling.

huh, 40% is his floor? Could be. Tho I've heard speculation of somewhere around 40-43% being his ceiling. I guess it'd make sense they'd be roughly equivalent. if you're for trump, you're for trump; and, apparently, nothing he says or tweets or how shitty of a business partner he can be is going to move his supporters off of him.

I'm sure there are many racists who support Trump. And probably just as many who support Clinton.

This is an interesting read and describes some of the people Nas, RR, and I met at the Trump rally.

I'm not sure about that. MANY Democrats laugh at Trump because they think he's a joke and can't win. The Republicans have hated Hillary for decades. They're obsessed with her.

a lot of Republicans voted for Obama in 2008 and many again in 2012. Plus how can anyone hate President Obama? Cool guy who has been a great President. And Hillary and Trump make him look even better in comparison.

Most of what you say is absolutely true but I don't think most supporters are racists. He presents things in a way that's appealing to them and they excuse everything else. MANY former military people are for him (regardless of race) because he says he's going to make it great again.

I think his ceiling is about 45%. That is why the revisionism surrounding him is so laughable now. 6 months ago everyone kept hooping and hollering about this being a "change" election. Trump was THEE quintessential anti of all the "anti establishment" candidates. He blitzed through the competition.

Now he is considered to be the only guy capable of losing to Hillary. He is the same garbage candidate during the primaries yet he was considered the best guy to knock off Hillary. What this election has demonstrated is that cynicism regarding the process is not a blueprint for winning elections.

Trump hasn't provided a reason for people to vote for him. Hatred for everything isn't a recipe for winning.

His campaign took off after he began to exhibit his xenophobic views. There has to be a correlation. If you substitute "Make America Great Again" with "Take Our Country Back" of years ago you'd find the same coded language in each slogan. His racism is so fundamental that he has to balance it with his "pivot" in such a way that he doesn't piss off his core group of supporters. What does that suggest about racism and its level of importance to his campaign?
