I've seen all four episodes now. My wife and I are in agreement that it started out to be quite compelling but has really turned into a character focused drama. I figured the series would be more about the evidence and clues, but instead it is more about the individual characters' personal issues.

The scenes can be quite compelling with decent dialogue. I like all the characters. I am just disappointed that there hasn't been much focus on the actual crime. It's a solid show, but just not a genre I typically follow. If it starts to get circular in a soap opera sense, I will stop watching.

I've caught up the last two days after being laid up with a bum ankle. I'm liking the show quite a bit. Now that he has his legal team (Stone and that Indian chic I assume) and has rejected the plea I think we'll get more into the actual "who done it". I still like all the prison story lines though.

Why don't you settle down and pump the brakes, have a little patience. It's a show with many episodes, it will take focus. If that's not fast enough for you maybe you can call HBO headquarters and tell them to hurry it up. In the meantime keep us up to date on what episodes youve watched and how your disappointed that it's not an episode of Law and Order.

Sheesh.

Got caught up yesterday and really am enjoying the series. They have a bit of work to do in order to wrap it up in 3 episodes but am confident it can be done.
I would really like to see HBO focus more on these one and done series, maybe a couple a year.

Last night was ok. A bit contrived with the other suspects all of a sudden looking guilty as hell too. I'm really enjoying this show, but I get the sense a lot of people will be disappointed in similar ways to how they were with true detective's first season.

I think they could have used some of those scenes earlier instead of cramming it all into one episode. That did make it seem a bit contrived. I understand that they have to do it, but some better spacing would have been more impactful.

I don't think it'll reach True Detective levels of hate.

I agree with you guys about the spacing in revealing other possible motives.

The last episode was filler to make more episodes.

Bet Naz makes that guy blow him.

Despite SomeGuy's dismissal (clearly SomeGuy is a beta male willing to let HBO go at its own pace) of my opinion above, that was my concern. They should have brought up other suspects earlier. Instead they are obsessed with the lawyer's feet and the dangers of prison.

At least episode five moved the narrative forward.

Ok so Naz will bang the Indian lawyer. He may even tag team her with the other lawyer.

We will never see the Indian lawyer naked. Sorry. But we will see plenty of prison sex

When she talked about breaking up with her boyfriend, I think that foreshadowed future encounters. Honestly, I am not interested in her taking her clothes off.

BTW, when you first saw Naz, would you have ever guessed he pushed a class mate down the stairs? He seemed way to shy and passive for that kind of behavior.

It's been an interesting ride. These last few episodes just haven't flowed that smoothly. I have been doing my best not to spoil the ending
for myself although I did see something early in the thread that tipped me off to something I hadn't considered early on. There are a few
other suspects out there that could have done it and I don't know how the cat ties in but it sure seems like it will in the end. Do we know
how long Naz has been behind bars now? He went from turning down the drugs to partaking in the very next scene and getting prison
tattoos. I am guessing he has been in there a good 4-6 months, maybe longer? Still a lot of ground to cover in 2 episodes.

I really thought it was going to be about the crime, but it's been more about the personal issues of the characters.

Exactly. I won't be surprised if the crime is never solved or if Nas actually did it.

I would argue it is about the flaws in the criminal justice system and not "solving" the crime would fit well.

There's doubt there's an element of all the flaws in the justice system. Just the mere fact that the hard working cabbies can't get their vehicle back is evidence of that.

I also noted that both the coroner and toxicologist (lady in DA's office in last episode) were willing to bend the narrative to fit with what the prosecution wanted.

It'll be a hell of an ending if Nas gets killed in prison.

That's kind of the vibe I'm getting.

Nas goes back while the jury deliberates and gets killed by Omar.

Then the jury comes back with the Not Guilty verdict.

That's be a fine ending. Naz is not as likeable as originally scripted. I feel terrible for his family, but he is just another thug now.

I don't think it will happen, but I just hope they don't end it all sunshine and rainbows with him getting out, returning home, and living happily ever after. My guess is he gets off and commits a violent felony on the outside and is arrested again. The series ends with Stone coming to see him at a precinct lock-up. Either that or Freddy shanks his ass.

He got tired of him or something? Freddy is a sociopath and Naz is his play toy. His ball of yarn, so to speak.

Gives him the correct dress shirt to wear for court but let's him get Die Bart Die tattooed on his knuckles and smoke crack? WHATS NEXT.... BROTHA GONNA WEAR JORTS?!

Nas gets caught smuggling the drugs, or Freddy feels threatened by his intelligence, frames him for that murder? Or like SomeGuy said, because he's a sociopath. Not crazy to think it could happen.

Watched the latest episode this morning. Looking forward to how this all wraps up, this last episode did a nice job of bringing it back on track
after a bit of a mess the previous one. Last episode titled "The Call of the Wild" so that could indicate a violent end for one or more of the
main characters. It's been a very good mini-series. I've mentioned it before but I really think HBO should focus on doing a few of these
each calendar year if the writing is up to par.

I think Naz is in love with being one of the "cool kids" now. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to do something to stay in jail with Freddy now.

Pretty pumped for the finale. Lot of speculation online that John is the killer.
