Nice way to finish the first inning, with Contreras gunning down the runner at 3rd and then Jake throwing a filthy curve to get the strikeout. Now maybe the offense gets going after Electra makes an out.

Can you imagine what Willson would be like out there if greenies were still "legal"?

Baez is fun to watch, whether in the field or at bat. I hope he's the starter at 2nd next season, with Zobrist going back to being a utility guy.

And Baez showing once again, why he just might be the most gifted infield defender you've ever seen in a Cub uniform.

Maybe Hendry, with his eternal love of 2nd basemen, saw Javy as a second sacker all along?

And now my obligatory "Thank You" to the Houston Astro organization for selecting Mark Appel with the #1 overall pick.

Did anyone see that idiot wigging out in left field on the Kb home run?

He needs your support Gay.

He's going to a defensive difference-maker come playoff time.

Very surprised at the number of walks Jake is handing out in starts lately. The double play was great, but against a poor hitting team like the Padres especially, Jake should be pounding the strike zone and attacking hitters, rather than trying to paint the corners so much.

I think giving up 3 runs on one wild pitch is probably grounds for immediate contraction.

Okay......why the fuck is Heyward batting 7th, ahead of Baez and Contreras?? Especially against a left hander??? Not that it really matters, as bad as Heyward has been even against right handers too. Hell, Arrieta has far better numbers as a hitter. Heyward should be batting 9th.

That is the 2nd time tonight that Fowler has flown out on the first pitch thrown to him. What happened to working a count? What happened to getting the pitch count up?

Because Javy Baez is patrolling infields all over the N.L.

This is the correct answer.

Also, I'm pretty sure that HR by KB was just an aggressive bunt.
