"The new stadium name is set to take effect on Nov. 1, setting up a scenario, if the White Sox somehow reach the World Series, that Games 1 and 2 could be at U.S. Cellular and Games 6 and 7 at Guaranteed Rate."

I will unapologetically steal this and pass it off as my own.

I agree, DT. The Sox are giant dicks.

FWIW, this is the only national attention apart from Chris Sale and the LaRoches that the Sox have gotten.

The national media is just killing them.

Sale will be headlining the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov 1.

Walgreens Park, Vienna Beef Stadium, Malnati's Field, Portillo's Park, Empire Field, Allstate Stadium, Palmer Park, Goose Island Field, Old Style Park, Jewel Stadium, Sears Field, etc.

Kind of like they did with The United Center.

I repeat - this new name is terrible.

Armour Park

Reinsdorf is right. Who cares. Company X paid and they get their name on the big board. Still funny how easy it will be to parody. Nice work by all.

The company provides a solid product. Concept is capped fees on loans and competitive rates. I know they have bad apples floating around. Don't we all. Honestly folks, don't hate on the product, laugh at the punning potential.

I am guessing they waived the upgrade clause at end of deal because they will be demanding a new park by then.

Regardless of name, still best concourse to watch a game at in Chicago.

I mean honestly, who cares about the name?

When the CTA calls something SOX - blank. Isn't it just Sox park?

I never liked "Sox Park." If you're going to call it something that's not on the marquee, call it Comiskey Park.

Generally it's policy for transit agencies not to honor naming rights for which they're not getting revenue. The MTA refers to Citi Field's Subway stop as "Mets-Willets Point" now but used to call it "Shea Stadium."

I am not going to read all of this. Tell me two things. Why would this ever get national attention? How much money did they get? That is all, thanks.

Why though? How is this different than a ballpark named after an insurance company or a chewing gum concern? Ballparks have corporate names these days. You'd think the Sox were the first to do this. It's pretty silly. And you knew the name had to change. U.S. Cellular hasn't been in the Chicago market for several years.

Exactly.

Did the National Media kill the Magic for naming their stadium after a literal pyramid scheme?

The Red Wings caught a ton of shit for making Amway their "presenting sponsor" a few years ago. Fortunately there will be no such mockery next year when they move into the Little Caesar's Arena.
