What net benefit is there in keeping them alive?

Keeping them in prison doesn't accomplish this?

None. Costs everyone money to keep them alive. Kind of like the career welfare lifers.

It costs more to give them the death sentence.

It costs more to whom? I'm not a civil liberties lawyer or an SJW, but who has been footing the bill for Manson, Berkowitz for all these years. ELI5 - how does warehousing them, feeding them, providing medical care for 30+ years cost more than a couple of injections? I honestly don't understand it. But I will say, in this particular case, string these fucking maggots up by their ankles in the woods and let nature take it's course.......

Because torturing someone is bad too.

Career welfare is not being poor it is milking the system and refusal to work. Get a clue as to what I am saying then comment.

Every case is exactly the same? Everybody on welfare is lazy and refuses to work? Bigfan vibe. There isn't a doubt in my mind that you are voting for Drumpf.

Oh, the irony. Labeling somebody who points out the folly of your argument as clueless, isn't making an actual point. Try harder.

Maybe you overlooked the word permanently in my post.....
And Chus, my comment about hanging them by their ankles was obvious hyperbole.
Give them a couple injections, or if this had happened in Utah, date night with the firing squad.

I wouldn't say obvious. You have been going pretty hard at this for a few days.

I was wondering when someone would imply the "I have kids so I understand more" card. Not shocking that it's the same guy who wants state-sponsored executions for all!

If vengeance is the ultimate goal why not just torture the perpetrators for the rest of their lives? Shit, the state could even monetize it. $1 to throw a rotten piece of fruit at criminal. $50 to stuff a glass rod up their dick hole then shatter it with a hammer.

Vengeance is different than justice.
I guess I'm in the minority, but 'eye for an eye' seems reasonable.
And before anyone else piles on, that concept wasn't originally from the Bible, so don't even go there.
These so-called humans shot a 10 year old up with meth, raped, stabbed, and set her on fire.

They have no civil liberties, and they should fucking die ASAP.
That's my opinion, and it'll be my last comment on the matter.
Sorry <not sorry> if you don't like it.

Edited for spelling, not for thoughts.

So I see we'll need to add add a Civics course to the CFMB Community College Curriculum. It might be asking too much to have a Formal Logic course too, though.

I'm not against the death penalty but if the point of jail is rehabilitation then 20+ years in prison won't accomplish that. Spending 20+ years in isolation is torture too.

Psychological torture probably feels worse than death and it's expensive to the tax payer.

It's still cheaper to put someone in prison for life than to give the death sentence.
But at least with life in prison I'm not responsible for murder.
You know, Nas, I would have thought you'd be much more sensitive to the potential for prosecutor or investigative misconduct than you are. There's a lot of confessions that were tortured out of people right here in the great land of Chicago and fabricated evidence and of course, my favorite, exculpatory evidence ignored by prosecutors and hidden from defense attorneys.
One innocent executed is reason enough to me to suspend forever the death sentence.
